TLDR : Answer Summary
A South African seeking to move to Thailand for a teaching job should start by applying for a tourist visa from a Thai consulate, preferably a single entry tourist visa, before arriving in Thailand. Once in Thailand and after securing employment, the employer will assist in obtaining a work visa based on the job offered. If interested in a 3-month stay, the individual may need to inquire about extended visa options or alternative arrangements upon arrival.
Ok I think it’s going to be more easy for me if I go to Pretoria and just fly from joburg what documents do I need just my passport right? Please Alan Cornwall advice me on rental where it safe and easy to get a teaching job and how much cost the rent I’m trying to find a place like a studio or bachelor but I can’t find it online
I am advising you to apply for a single entry tourist visa because it will get you stamped in for 60 days when you arrive and you can extend that by 30 more days at the immigration office here for 1900baht.
That will buy you more time to find a job than a 30 day visa exempt entry will.
Apply for a single entry tourist visa from the thai consulate in your country BEFORE you wing your way here. Once you find a job, the company will give you paperwork to go to a thai consulate and get a visa based on employment
