Do I need to show a confirmed flight ticket to apply for a 60-day tourist visa for Thailand from Austria?

i am indian national residing in austria, i want to apply for a 60 days tourist visa single entry for thailand in austria..do i have to show a confirmed flight ticket out of thailand ? i will though fly out to india after thailand. what are the current options,, i want to be able to choose when i actually want to leave and not forced into a particular date..what are the really tried and tested options ?..kindly help
