TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing your visa in Thailand and filing for a TM30, you should request the TM30 to be effective from today's date rather than the contract start date. A new TM30 will replace any previous submissions, so using today's date will avoid any complications.

You can't date a TM30 to the past, but it doesn't matter because a new TM30 replaces any existing TM30. Just ask for a new one effective today and you won't have any issues.

thanks. Are they annual (I’ve been here 11 months?) do they have an end date. Or are they just proof of residence on the day they are issued.

I have had the same TM30 for the last 6 years now, as I live in our house, your TM30 will be valid, until you change addresses, or returning from a overseas holiday, some offices will require you to lodge another TM30 upon return to Thailand, even if you are returning to the same address.

a tm30 simply confirms your address. When you move to a new location the new landlord will issue a tm30 which you will take to immigration.

It is a change of address.

there's an end date field in the new system but it's not a required field. Generally a TM30 is good forever until a new one is filed (or for some offices until you leave Thailand).

although, i have seen mention that some IO's will require a checkout date for those providing lease with an end date.
