What Should I Know About Applying for a Multi-Entry Tourist Visa at the Thai Consulate in New York?

Does anyone have experience with the Thai consulate in New York?

My wife and I have a trip to Thailand planned for April, and we are looking to apply for a multi-entry tourist visa. We're not sure how far out we need to make an appointment, how long the process usually takes, and how to prove employment as we are self-employed.

I've tried emailing a couple of times and calling but I haven't received a response from the emails after a couple of weeks, and I always just get a "mailbox full" response when calling. There don't appear to be any holidays going on...

Is this more of a "show up whenever" situation, or am I just doing something wrong? I had actually reached out to them last year when we first started planning the trip, and they were fairly quick to respond via email.

Just looking for any experiences with visiting this consulate. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai Consulate in New York does not require an appointment for visa applications. Applicants can drop off their paperwork in the morning and pick it up the following afternoon. It is advisable to apply closer to your departure date as the visa is valid from the date it is issued.

It's walk up or mail in service. There is no appointment process at the thai consulate in New York. Believe me IF there was an appointment process it'd be front and center on their website. (it is not)..

I’ve done many visas at the NY consulate. No appointment needed, but you have to drop off your application and paperwork in the morning. They will give you a receipt and tell you to come back the following afternoon to pick it up. Very efficient.

I’ve been to that consulate many times over the years. Most recently about a year and a half ago. They have always been exceedingly friendly and accommodating. The man behind the window has been there as long as I can remember. Never needed an appointment for anything and my visas (tourist and non-b) have always been ready the following afternoon. Applications should be made before 11:30.

Interesting, I have been assuming we needed an appointment all along. This is encouraging, I don't feel rushed to get an appointment now and I'm sure I can get the proof of employment figured out before then. Thanks for your help!

LA in and out man. 10 min. But I got there 45 before they opened. Then come back to pick up in afternoon. Make sure you have all papers sorted

NYC consulate was easy for me...for the METV you want to get it as close to your departure date as possible since once its in your Passport you lose start to lose days on the visa...i went on a Monday and had the visa on a Wednesday super easy
