What should I do if my 60-day multiple entry visa is delayed before my trip to Thailand?

I applied for a 60 day multiple entry visa back in June for Sept 5 travel day. Of course as usual they requested additional info on July 24, which I sent the same day. Heard nothing until I emailed Visa Section in LA today. They then gave the same email I had responded to on July 24. I again sent them the same requested info.

I'm sure I'll receive the visa before my travel date, but if not would I just arrive on the 30 day visa and get an extension at immigration in Bangkok?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a 60-day multiple entry visa for travel to Thailand, encountering delays from the LA consulate that required additional information. Despite concerns about receiving the visa in time, they learned that US citizens do not need a visa for short stays and can enter Thailand for 30 days with a stamp, and easily extend their stay for an additional 30 days. Ultimately, they were granted the visa 10 days prior to departure.

Update: After sending the US to THAILAND flight info for the third time, I finally got the 60 day multi-entry visa 10 days before I fly. Streamlining I guess šŸ˜

As you are US citizen you don't need a visa. Just turn up and you'll get a free 30-day entry stamp. You can extend a further 30 days at immigration office

Okay, but he asks for a multi entry tourist visa. So I think original plan is 3x 60 days with border hops/bounces. When he does that right before the visa is void, he gets another 60 days. So you can get almost 9 months of stay with this visa. Most of the times without much problems at the border.

Correct. The METV is really the only longstay Tourist Visa

We see regular posts that the LA office can drag their heels. A post a couple of weeks ago showed they were ā€œstreamliningā€ their service. No idea if thatā€™s happened as yet.

Pfff anoying indeed. Just to know, should you enter on 30d visa exempt and y'r visa comes in when you are already here, it's possible to do a borderhop en return with the visa.

Yes you can border hop to envoke your new visa.

it's happened to me twice before. I apply months before. I give them what they want, then they request the same information I submitted. Then one week before I travel I get the visa šŸ¤£

I guess that's streamlining šŸ¤£
