TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen is inquiring about the accuracy of visa requirements for obtaining a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) from the Thai consulate in New York City. Responses indicate mixed opinions; some affirm the requirements on the consulate's website are accurate, while others suggest inconsistencies, especially for non-US passport holders, and recommend directly contacting the consulate for confirmation. Many contributors emphasize the value of sharing personal experiences regarding visa applications and express skepticism about relying solely on consulate websites for the most current information.

It’s easy I have received 2 already from the NYC consulate...good luck

The wording on their site is confusing but be aware that there are more requirements for non-US passport holders so it makes it difficult to tell what the minimums are for you the way they have it worded. Best to contact the consulate, state you are a US citizen applying for a METV and get the list of documents.

Totally accurate, meet the requirements on their site and you'll get the visa without any problem.

Thanks
@Tod ********
, you always sort people out. Cheers

How would we know better than them - you would need to ask them directly, but you would be wise to follow their instructions.

Maybe you don't know the answer
@Glen ********
but there are people who do, like
@Tod ********
posted below. Don't assume your own lack of information to be universal, some people actually do have up to date, accurate information and recent experience with these consulate. I'm a little wary of trusting a consulate's advice when they respond to email correspondence with airplane emoji's, you dig?

Not to mention it was midnight when I posted the question, so who am I to contact at that time? Don't see the point of your response at all, if your only advice is to "contact the consulate", that's bloody obvious and as
@เบนจมิน ******
said why would this group exist at all if not to ask questions? Maybe you shouldn't attempt to answer questions you don't have the answer to.

เบนจมิน โรด์ส the OP asked specifically what are the requirements to apply at a specific Embassy or Consulate as he doubted the accuracy of their website, and the BEST and most appropriate advice is for him to directly contact the Embassy or Consulate to obtain 100% accurate advice - that is helpful!

No one suggested “call the embassy” is appropriate for all questions, that is except for you now!

I note you have not offered any advice to the OP. You’re just being a dick by trolling...which offers nothing helpful to this group!
เบนจมิน *******
cool, so just go around posting "call the embassy" on every thread. again, what would the point of this group be if not to find out what other people's experiences have been?
Glen *********
เบนจมิน โรด์ส this group has many benefits because Embassy employees don’t give advice on how to get to an Embassy, which Embassy is easier than others in different countries...many reasons, includng prvidng advice to this OP.

The advice here is general in nature, and the caveat has always been to contact the specific Embassy or Consulate, or view their website, if it relates to their requirements to obtain a visa.

I would trust the advice of the Embassy staff relating to their requirements over someone here...for example the Hobart Consulate has their specific requirements on their website, but when I contact the Consular Official directly I discovered some flexibility...that I could only know by speaking to them directly 🙂
เบนจมิน *******
if you trust every employee/website from each consulate, what why would you even be in this group?
Glen *********
เบนจมิน โรด์ส and no mater what, the only people who can provide 100% correct advice is the embassy or consulate. Things change often as you say, so any people giving advice here is at risk of being outdated, the staff at the embassy would not.

So the advice of this group is to contact the Embassy or consulate they will be applying, if they don’t trust their website!
เบนจมิน *******
the point of this group is to gain some insight as to how things actually operate, since consulates often don't update their websites or don't follow their own regulations
