I'm an Englishman wishing to return to Thailand, I'm looking for advice regarding quarantine from people who have been in quarantine only please.

1. When in quarantine hotel will I restricted to hotel room or can I use facilities in hotel, like bar, restaurant or will they bring food and beer to the room.

2. Do they test me for Covid whilst in quarantine, if so how many times?

3. If I arrive in Bangkok airport, can I quarantine anywhere in Thailand, as I'm looking spend at least a month in Prachinburi, I believe there is a quarantine hotel there?

Regards

Terry

TLDR : Answer Summary
Returning to Thailand requires undergoing a strict quarantine period in an ASQ (Alternative State Quarantine) hotel. During this time, you'll be confined to your hotel room, with food delivered three times daily; no alcohol is permitted. COVID-19 tests are administered twice: once on arrival (or day 5) and another on day 12. You may only quarantine in the same city where you arrive, typically Bangkok, as domestic travel is restricted for quarantine purposes. While some areas like the pool or gym may open after testing negative, many facilities will remain closed during your stay.

Quarantine is for 15 days. Food is brought to your room 3 times a day, you will get 2 COVID-19 tests, after your 1st test you will be able to leave your room for an hour to a location specified by the hotel. There will be no alcohol. You may only quarantine in an approved ASQ hotel in the arrival city

You can bring a bottle alcohol with you bought from airport duty free

some of the hotels check the luggage before you enter the room. so hide it in the suitcase, they probably will not open them -but never ever in a duty free plastic bag (i had my bottle in the suitcase .....)

absolutly ban of alcohol - it's forbidden in quarantine - you are lucky when you can smuggle in, but they will take it away from you when they find it

>1. When in quarantine hotel will I restricted to hotel room or can I use facilities in hotel, like bar, restaurant or will they bring food and beer to the room.

This is *NOT* a hotel. This is a hospital annex that is located in a hotel. You will be restricted to the hotel room itself until your first negative test, and then you'd be able to go to a common area one hour a day (usually scheduled).

Alcohol is not allowed in the quarantine because it lowers the body temperature.

You will be given three meals a day as part of the package.

>2. Do they test me for Covid whilst in quarantine, if so how many times?

Twice. through the nose.

> If I arrive in Bangkok airport, can I quarantine anywhere in Thailand, as I'm looking spend at least a month in Prachinburi, I believe there is a quarantine hotel there?

No, The only quarantine hotels are in Bangkok and Pattaya (I think). In theory, you can stay longer in a quarantine hotel if you are willing to pay for it, but remember the pools are closed, restaurants in the hotel are closed, etc. Because they aren't hotels, they are hospital annexes.

No alcohol allowed. It's a government ruling. If the hotel are selling alcohol then they will lose the ASQ status.

You're not going to be "immediately deported" if they find a beer bottle in your trash bin. Some hotels stock the room with beer, I've seen them in the ASQ group.

You have to stay in your room untill day 5, on day 5 you go escorted for a covid test, do the test then back to the room.

on day 6 you get your results and can book your 45-60minutes time slot to go to the roof or pool area on day 7

Day 7-14 you can have a 45 min pre booked slot to go roof/pool

Day 12 a second covid test if that’s clear then can use the gym if they have it but your nearly done so no big deal

The day you arrive is day 0 and you leave on day 15

You can only quarantine in a pre book asq hotel in Bangkok or chonburi booked before you arrive

Until after first covid test then allowed out for an hour. I’m on day 9 😂 staying at Pullman not the cheapest but would recommend great service , room with amazing view and most importantly impressive food 🥘!!

I’ll let others who have done the quarantine to answer but will tell you one thing. The hotel will not be bringing you beers. No alcohol is allowed, unless you bring your own and even then the hotel could confiscate it.
