I'm an Englishman wishing to return to Thailand, I'm looking for advice regarding quarantine from people who have been in quarantine only please.
1. When in quarantine hotel will I restricted to hotel room or can I use facilities in hotel, like bar, restaurant or will they bring food and beer to the room.
2. Do they test me for Covid whilst in quarantine, if so how many times?
3. If I arrive in Bangkok airport, can I quarantine anywhere in Thailand, as I'm looking spend at least a month in Prachinburi, I believe there is a quarantine hotel there?
Regards
Terry

TLDR : Answer Summary
Returning to Thailand requires undergoing a strict quarantine period in an ASQ (Alternative State Quarantine) hotel. During this time, you'll be confined to your hotel room, with food delivered three times daily; no alcohol is permitted. COVID-19 tests are administered twice: once on arrival (or day 5) and another on day 12. You may only quarantine in the same city where you arrive, typically Bangkok, as domestic travel is restricted for quarantine purposes. While some areas like the pool or gym may open after testing negative, many facilities will remain closed during your stay.
Quarantine is for 15 days. Food is brought to your room 3 times a day, you will get 2 COVID-19 tests, after your 1st test you will be able to leave your room for an hour to a location specified by the hotel. There will be no alcohol. You may only quarantine in an approved ASQ hotel in the arrival city
some of the hotels check the luggage before you enter the room. so hide it in the suitcase, they probably will not open them -but never ever in a duty free plastic bag (i had my bottle in the suitcase .....)
im now in the hotel icon thats not true because im on day 5 and swab test today so I rang reception to ask if I could book relax area for day 6 they I cannot go till 17th thats day 7 ..I think day 6 is out as they won't have results back till sometime on day 6 ..bit confusing I know but that info is incorrect
. Me too yeah . I sprint to door when I hear bell ring then your in with a slight chance of getting your dinner warm lol . Joking talking with a few friends who are in different stages of ASQ our food has been ok and staff helpful under difficult circumstances for them . How are you in . Whens the leaving party 🥳
25th me think ill do a night in Bangkok but don't tell the missus 🤣🤣🤣then down to chon buri..I will hopefully get a few days in pattaya to see friends if she gives me a hall.pass lol 😆
>1. When in quarantine hotel will I restricted to hotel room or can I use facilities in hotel, like bar, restaurant or will they bring food and beer to the room.
This is *NOT* a hotel. This is a hospital annex that is located in a hotel. You will be restricted to the hotel room itself until your first negative test, and then you'd be able to go to a common area one hour a day (usually scheduled).
Alcohol is not allowed in the quarantine because it lowers the body temperature.
You will be given three meals a day as part of the package.
>2. Do they test me for Covid whilst in quarantine, if so how many times?
Twice. through the nose.
> If I arrive in Bangkok airport, can I quarantine anywhere in Thailand, as I'm looking spend at least a month in Prachinburi, I believe there is a quarantine hotel there?
No, The only quarantine hotels are in Bangkok and Pattaya (I think). In theory, you can stay longer in a quarantine hotel if you are willing to pay for it, but remember the pools are closed, restaurants in the hotel are closed, etc. Because they aren't hotels, they are hospital annexes.
You're not going to be "immediately deported" if they find a beer bottle in your trash bin. Some hotels stock the room with beer, I've seen them in the ASQ group.
Welcome tourist in thailand. Cannot go out, cannot drink, bar close, you go beach police come, and everywhere peopole look you as a covid transporter 😂😂
I live thailande and for me it's a bit same anyway they k'ow I live here.
i agree that Pattaya is possible from bkk because of the proximity. But you could not make a trip to quarantine wherever you like (eg. No domestic flights)
It’s pretty strict no alcohol 🍺 allowed. Have to stay in room
Until after first covid test then allowed out for an hour. I’m on day 9 😂 staying at Pullman not the cheapest but would recommend great service , room with amazing view and most importantly impressive food 🥘!!
The ASQ prices are a set price as includes the whole package airport transfer , 2 covid tests and 4 meals a day. All the hotels doing same set prices for ASQ.
been here 9 days and it’s been good. Anything I want they have it to me instantly well apart from alcohol 😂 that is ! There is a Facebook group ASQ in Thailand loads of people’s reviews worth having a look at before deciding 👍
yes U can but if caught drinking it U would be in trouble maybe make U restart your 15 nights, I have a litre of whiskey in my bag but not going to risk being caught, I'm on my 3 Rd day of quarantine now
I’ll let others who have done the quarantine to answer but will tell you one thing. The hotel will not be bringing you beers. No alcohol is allowed, unless you bring your own and even then the hotel could confiscate it.
