TLDR : Answer Summary
Currently, if you own an apartment in Thailand, you cannot quarantine there. All travelers are required to undergo quarantine in government-approved Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) hotels. There are concerns about the strictness of these regulations, especially after previous incidents, and travelers must book these hotels in advance before their flights. Comments indicate frustration with the high costs associated with ASQ hotels and the inconvenience of needing a booking prior to receiving flight details.

ASQ only

Strange to me that you need to book a hotel before you can apply to return to Thailand. How are you supposed to know what date you will return as the return date information is supplied after all the paperwork is done and approved and you need to wait for a flight nominated by the embassy.
not long at all. Timing is really the key. If they use the same system as the US, once you start the process they will keep you updated on what you need to move forward or if you’re missing anything. I was lucky and was able to get a flight in a weeks time. You have 4 airlines that are currently approved. If you email them individually, they will send you a list of available fights and if there is still room.

Still in quarantine in UK, free next week and on to the process of returning to Thailand. All a bit hit and miss arranging it all. How long were you waiting for a flight?

It is refundable and the dates a flexible to a degree. I had to change mine once. Your meals are free. The test are free. It’s not a bad experience at all. Of course I’m sure that varies from place to place.
they need to guarantee you have a place to quarantine. It is not a simple process. I know. I just went through it and I am now in ASQ. They are not going to process you if you do not have a gov. Approved flight. ASQ booked. $100,000.00 Covid policy.
it is only prelimary bookings. It is also subject to your trip being approved by the embassy.

You can’t.
U have to expend about 35k to 70k to stay in those ASQ quarantine and you have to book and pay it in advance which is silly becoz there is no commercial flights to go back in Thailand any soon, only repatriation flights! Thailand governament wants to make money 💰 with those expensive hotels !

It's not the government, officially, but individual state officials have been getting kickbacks from the hotels. "Commission" fees of 30-40% have been quoted.
35k is the cheapest, if it is cheap cheap for you, ok! for me it isn’t and I don’t about your opinion, that’s just mine !

Oh my now B 35 k for 2 weeks stay with 3 meals a day plus tests is expensive and the government makes money from this. Lets go through a rational calculation. Accommodation 14 days x B 1200 per day = B

plus 3 hotel meals per day for 14 days at B 600 per day = B 8400 plus 2 x testing at B 3000 = B 6000 = B 31 200.
I'm not going to continue to discuss, but it's not just this post. Any time anyone asks any question, people don't just answer. It seems they need to be attacked. This group is normally a good source of information, but it has become very unpleasant.
I don't see any rudeness, sarcasm I do see. I try to cut down on sarcasm, but I will never believe in "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say nothing at all." That saying died when Facebook started.
I grew up there, but I now consider myself a Californian. When my daughter was in first grade (she was actually 5 at the time), the school asked me to talk to her about her use of sarcasm and to isolate it to talking to the teacher. They said that the other kids couldn't understand it and it could cause issues. lol. We did and she did.
I personally do get pleasure out making a joke. In my culture we call it "busting balls." Unfortunately I forget that some people have the emotional maturity of a 6 year old and can't handle a joke, a meme, dark colors, or differing opinions.
At least Garrett's comment was funny and then he answered politely. The rest are simply nasty. There's simply no point in it. Mogens' comment telling someone else that the question was not a good one was particularly unnecessary. Obviously, some people didn't get this supposedly "daily" post.
and that's a reason to be rude rather than simply answering and moving on? You see how Elisa handled it? A simple answer and that's it. Why is rudeness necessary? Does it make everyone else feel superior? Did improve your day?
then say that, although even then, the information is confusing. I've also been in this group throughout the pandemic and I have not seen this particular question posted. Perhaps it has been but certainly not daily. There's certainly no reason for being rude
I think the frustrating issue is people don't look at previous posts or Google first. The same questions are asked daily.

Now wouldn’t that be a dream. They cannot watch and guard people spread all over. A member of my family recently built a new home in a mountain temple, she has yet to use or see it. So now it just sits. She is Thai living in America. We can’t even get off this continent. There are difficult examples of lives disrupted around the world. Oh, my sweetheart is in Thailand too, we had a wedding planned. Now it’s all chats and videos.
Yeah, even though Thai citizens returning to Thailand have to quarantine at a military base for 15 days, foreigners who are wealthy enough to own a $40k condo at Dcondo's can just go to their condos and chill for a few days. The government trusts you.
Thais flying in aren't doing military bases any more, they get quite decent private hotel rooms. You can see more if you search on YouTube. Quality looks similar to the bottom end ASQ rooms, I think if you are Thai really no need to pay.
