ok, don't know if post mortems about visa things are done here, have seen people talk about their experiences, but i am fresh back from udon thani immigration not 20 minutes ago. US Passport, needing to get extension to 30 day visa exempt acquired at BKK from flight originating in Seam Reap, Cambodia. Went to immigration at 7:30am, not a big crowd at all and I was expecting said since it was a Monday. Had my Thai Wife with me. Were first in line to talk to immigration officer, young lady presiding. As it plays out, did not have to fill out anything, no TM.6 departure card or TM.7. Did not have to use passport photos or copy of data page in passport. I just signed about a half dozen papers presented to me, they made copies of passport, if any copies were made, and was charged 2000 baht, and on my way out. I know folks have said here dozens of times 1900 baht, but this is the second time i have paid 2000, and don't care. gladly paid the extra 100 for no hassle, no paperwork, no nothing except signatures, no problems. This is how it exactly played out for me. just the fyi from my very recent experience. it may not be this way for others. and i always take my wife with me when anything official has to be done. in fact, when almost anything has to be done here in thailand. i think it helps. jb
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their recent experience at Udon Thani Immigration, where they extended their 30-day visa exemption acquired from Bangkok after arriving from Cambodia. The process was straightforward, requiring no extensive paperwork or photos, just signatures. They paid 2000 baht, which was slightly above the typical fee of 1900 baht, but appreciated the convenience. The user noted that bringing their Thai wife helped in the process, although they believed they could have managed alone.
