What was the experience like for someone getting a 12-month marriage visa extension and a re-entry permit in Thailand?

Tod Daniel’s a massive thank you for all of your sage advice to me and others. So Tod has helped me from application for marriage visa, 12 month extension and re-entry permit processes. And so Monday was 12 month extension stamp day (had decided to leave re-entry permit - to book appointment, rather than long wait).

Wow what a different experience!!! Arrived car park 08:40. We got parked straight away with loads of slots (normally 15-20 minutes or no slots), into immigration ticket 20, up to counter 19 showing but changed immediately. 10 minutes later passport all stamped. My wife suggested we try re-entry permit (as it all seemed much quieter than previous visits) passport copied and 25 minutes later passport stamped and we left - 50 minutes for everything - wow just wow. Thanks to you, Tod and all your support I felt much more comfortable during this whole process. Really appreciate it.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their positive experience with obtaining a 12-month extension for their marriage visa and a re-entry permit in Thailand. They arrived early and found the immigration process to be smooth and quick, completing both tasks in just 50 minutes, thanks in part to advice from community member Tod Daniel. Other comments praised Tod's helpfulness in navigating visa-related issues, although one user raised a concern about the passport retention policy for extensions in Pattaya.

Just one problem here, when you go to immigration to extend your retirement for a further 12 mnths, they keep your passport and you have to pick up the next day(well thats the way they do it in Pattaya). So how do you queue for a re-entry permit without your passport.

, most offices wouldn't keep your passport. Only Jomtien and one or two more offices.

I have only ever dealt with Pattaya immigration so thank for the education.

Super glad that worked out for you sir, and glad you were able to get the re-entry permit the same day you got the year extension inked in.

As I said usually at C/W in the mornings it's not so bad going thru Section C-2 for a re-entry permit

Congrats and thanx for the thanx (y)
