TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for obtaining a yearly extension for a Non-O visa based on marriage in Chiang Mai can take a significant amount of time, and it is advisable to plan for a whole day there. Going early, around 5 AM, is recommended to avoid long queues. Additionally, it's suggested that having a child with you might expedite the process.

Plan a whole day there. Unless you go at 5am. Definitely taking a cute half Thai baby will get you seen quicker.
