What should I specify as the Place of Issue on my passport application—city or authority name?

Hello everyone,

I’m probably overthinking… which is why I’d like to ask here:

What exactly needs to be specified under Place of Issue regarding the passport? The city (Cologne) or the name of the authority (City of Cologne)?

Thank you very much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question seeks clarification on whether to specify the city or the authority name under the Place of Issue in a passport application. Responses indicate that it is best to follow the exact wording on the passport's ID page, and some users express concerns over potential discrepancies.

Look at the manual in top right corner of the application webpage.

Oh now you're giving me anxiety. I didn't put the "Stadt" although it says it on my passport. Let's hope for the best for both of us!

I’d write it exactly as it’s written on your id page of your passport.

the whole evisa page is in English. Why not fill the inputs in English?

there are instructions to fill in everything in English but at the same time there are instructions to fill in everything exactly as in the passport. That’s why I wasn‘t sure

@Alessa *******
write cologne or Koeln. It will work. There are humans on the other side. They will know what you mean. :)
