I am applying for the dtv online in Los Angeles. Under travel documents, I selected passport. It asks for Place of Issue. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to put here? Do I put Los Angeles? Or USA? Or do I put what it says under Authority which is the United States Department of State. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When filling out the DTV online application, you should refer to the U.S. passport for the correct 'Place of Issue.' Generally, applicants should enter 'USA' as the place of issue if the passport was issued in the United States. Some comments suggest referring directly to the passport, especially the area marked 'Authority' which often reads 'United States Department of State.' If there is any confusion, the majority opinion is to enter 'USA' for clarity.

my passport doesn't say place of issue. I wouldn't be asking this question if it did.

on the data page on the bottom right it says USA. Above that it says authority. List what it says below "authority", usually United States state department.

United States passports have place of issue clearly printed on the passport.
