Hi folks, I have got my yellow book and pink ID card a while ago. So if I renew my foreign passport in the future, is there anything I need to do? Such as updating anything in Amphur district office? TIA!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on what actions to take when renewing their foreign passport while holding a yellow book and pink ID card in Thailand. Commenters clarify that while the pink ID card and yellow book can simplify dealings with Thai authorities, particularly in immigration and local offices, they suggest that the primary task is to ensure that any institutions, like banks, that link to the previous passport number are informed of the new details. It is also suggested to carry both the old and new passports when interacting with authorities to demonstrate continuity.

I had to produce a pink card to change the address on my driving licence and get a new blue book for the car. They said required specifically because I had a yellow book. Samui.

Both documents are very useful when dealing with any Thai authority.. such as immigration, the LTO, or your local Amphur.. production will often eliminate the need for other evidentiary documentation.. but that wasn't the question that needed answering.. it related to a new passport.. and it's my belief that you only need to copy when making new applications.. meaning those authorities that may have a copy of the old passport on file don't need to be notified.. that is until you next deal with them and they request sight of your passport.. though it's best to produce both the old and new passport to evidence continuity when this occurs.. the one exception that springs to mind is your bank.. because your passport number might be recorded within their validation system.. meaning if you try to re-set your banking app (for example) it might ask for your passport number.. so it might be a good idea to ask them if they need to update your passport details or not.. especially since these things tend to occur when we are unprepared.. ie. at the most inconvenient time.. and you might not have easy access to your old passport.. so worth checking out.

Thanks so much for your advice. What I'm worried is that I have to go through thr painful process for acquiring the yellow book and pink card again. I had to legalise my passport once by embassy and then legalize one more time by consulate of foreign affairs. I just don't want to go through those processes again

Your reply just made me wonder whether my passport number appears on my pink card and yellow book.. so had to go and check.. and it doesn't.. so there's no need to update them after a passport renewal.. ie. after a change of passport number.. then i checked my Thai driving licenses.. and my passport number is stated on the front.. so this begs the question.. whether or not the LTO has to be advised of a change in one's passport number.. and whether revised licenses are issued as a result.. you may want to investigate this for yourself my friend.. and I'd be interested to know the answer ๐Ÿ‘

haha I'm sorry to tell you that I haven't got my driving licence yet. But I'm planning to get one very soon. Perhaps I can ask the people there (will expect 10+ different versions of answer ๐Ÿคฃ)

Dude the only privilege having your pink id and yellow house book is you can travel without using p/port and yellow house book is buying a car or apartment under your name. The rest is useless.

if you plan on spending the rest of your life in Thailand on annually renewable Non-O visas then you are correct. If you are planning to apply for permanent residence or citizenship then the yellow Tambien Baan (and pink ID card) are crucial.

PR- learn to sing Thai national anthem first and fluent in Thai language or else is useless.

National anthem for residence, no National Anthem for citizenship. Thai language skills A1/A2 are sufficient for both.
