I'm at the airport now about to leave Phnom Penh. I was here for 16 days but am leaving without a DTV approved.

The embassy asked for additional documents after 5 business days (on a Friday). My work took about 4 business days to provide the documents I needed.

Submitted with 2 business days to spare. Still pending approval.

Documents provided:

- Bank Statement showing sufficient current balances

- Booking confirmation (hotel in Cambodia)

- Letter of Offer from employer / Employment contract

- Standard passport-size photo

- Scan of passport bio page

Additional documents requested:

- Scan of passport entry stamp for Camobodia

- Certificate of Employment

- Company Registration from employer

Hopefully I'll still be approved for my next entry into Thailand -- does anyone know if leaving the Embassy country before approval had any effect on the outcome?

If I were to offer advice, it'd be to provide all the correct documents in the initial application. It'll save the time required to request additional documents. Allow 5 business days at minimum for each interaction with the embassy.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user describes their experience seeking a Thai visa from the Phnom Penh embassy, highlighting the challenges of providing additional documents after initial submission. Despite submitting required documentation on time, they faced delays and expressed concern about leaving the embassy country before receiving approval. Ultimately, they received visa approval but too late to use it for their intended trip. The comments suggest increasing delays in visa processing at embassies and offer advice on ensuring all required documents are submitted initially to avoid complications.

Update: Just got the email. I was approved! 10 hours too late to use it for this entry, but no biggie since I'm back in Australia for Xmas anyway. Thanks to the group for the great knowledge sharing and advice.

If they asked for more documents the 10 day processing time will reset to when you submit them

Good info. Seems some Embassies are tightening up. Company registration and entry stamp into country applied.

What is your nationality? The Phnom Penh consulate announced that the average turnaround time is now 10 days, up from 5 days. I assume that implies they are inundated with visa applications. They even state on their Facebook page to expect delays.

- Ok, that isn't an issue then. For some nationalities, it takes 30 days.
