Can I apply for a DTV (Dental Treatment Visa) while on a tourist visa in Thailand?

I will be starting dental treatment 2 March. My tourist visa expires 31 March. Am I able to apply for a dtv while still in Thailand. Or does this have to be done back in my home country.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about applying for a Dental Treatment Visa (DTV) while on a tourist visa in Thailand. Responses indicated that applications for the DTV must be made outside Thailand, typically at a Thai embassy or consulate in a neighboring country. However, users mentioned options such as extending the current tourist visa by up to 30 days or potentially obtaining a medical visa based on the urgency of dental treatment.

You can extend your current visa with 30 days without much hassle and you might be eligible for a medical visa based on the dental work that needs to be done. Regards

Short answer; I don't. Long answer; Had a friend who fell ill in Thailand and chose to be treated in Thailand. He applied for a medical here and got one. If you can press the urgency (existing or not) of your treatment Immigration might decide in your favor. Regards

You can apply for a 30-day extension on your tourist visa, and an extra 7 days after that. But you probably have enough time to apply for a DTV in a neighboring country, if you act fast.

the seven days is misleading. If you were to go to immigration trying to get a second extension, they will refuse you, and maybe let you get a 7 days to leave Thailand stamp, but it is not automatic. They can, and do refuse it.

none. You show up to immigration and pay the 1900 baht fee. Some offices need your tm30 form to be in order when applying for the extension.

Misleading information. You must stay in the country you applied for DTV from until visa in granted and there is no indication how long that would take

it’s just common sense to wait for your visa to be processed as you need your passport. Average is 2 weeks.

So why are you saying "You'll probably have enough time"?? What if takes longer and he is running out of time?

you are missing the fact he is not in Thailand getting the DTV, so his entry stamp into Thailand makes no difference. He's got plenty of time

It can’t be done within Thailand but you can use a nearby embassy/consulate. You have to be in the country you are applying at for the application and until the visa is issued.

every embassy is different. It varies from 3-30 days. Check the website of the embassy you want to use to see what their evisa processing time is.

Neither.

You can only apply at a Thai embassy outside of Thailand, but it doesn't have to be your home country.
