Should I extend my stay in Cambodia while applying for a DTV visa?

Hi everyone. So I'm applying for DTV in Cambodia. I'm aware from the posts it takes about 2 weeks. I already planned a trip to Cambodia for 10 days (7 business days). But I planned the trip before I decided to apply for DTV. It was only after I planned the trip, that I started looking at the DTV. And I thought since I'm going to Cambodia anyhow, I might as well just apply there. So my question is, should I go ahead and extend my hotel and flight departure from Cambodia NOW? Or maybe I wait till I get there and see how things go and then extend if needed? Because even tho most get approval in about 10 days, I did see a few who got approved in less days. Any advice you guys can provide will be appreciated. Thank yoiu!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a DTV visa in Cambodia and is unsure whether to extend their hotel and flight departure now or wait until they arrive. While most applications take about 10 working days, advice from the community suggests it's safer to wait and see how the application process goes upon arrival. Some commenters recommend extending the stay as they believe 10 days may not be enough, especially considering potential holidays and processing times.

After reading some of the comments here, I'm wondering if I can just cancel my return flight back to Thailand and receive a refund and then use that money to book a bus ticket when I'm there as I'm sure bus reservations are more flexible and can also book last minute?

So I checked my airline on this. I'm booked with AirAsia. And apparently I did a non refundable. So I cannot cancel as I would not receive any refund. And there wasn't even options to receive credit either. It looks like I can change the ticket, but with change fee added on it's gonna be like 2200 extra. I was looking at bus tickets for the return to Thailand and can probably get a bus ticket for around 700. So I'm wondering in this case, maybe it's better just to miss the return flight (as in, just not show up) and book the bus ticket when I need it? Is there any problem with this scenario with regards to the DTV? Cuz I think I read something about we need to enter our return details in the application. If I put my returning flight in the application but actually return by land, is that still ok?

Thai New Year starts today, everything stops till next Thursday, suggest you delay your departure till at least the 25th

I'm not even going till later in April. Arrival Cambodia April 27. But it's Cambodia. Thai New Year is in Thailand. Will embassies in Cambodia still be closed the whole week? If they are, I expect probably a huge backlog of applications.

Thai embassies adhere to Thai and the local holidays.

Right. I did look it up and they're closed April 14, 15, 16. So maybe processing time will be an extra 3 days on top of the already 11 working days?

Bottom line, it's gonna be what it's gonna be. They banned crystal ball reading in this group

if you are flexible enough then wait till you get there and apply first and then decide, i am one of them who always make last minute plans but it's just me since i am very flexible.....

priorities... I would extend.

Or be ready to extend once you are there (80%).

It took me 12 days in fast Jakarta...

You’ll need longer than that. Tell Cambodia that you need a one month visa and stay for three weeks

It is 11 business days, so you need to exclude weekends and holidays. I am confident that 99% take this amount of time. Can you share any posts that were quicker ?

Approx 10 working days. You'll likely have to extend but I would do it once I am there ;-) in fact, I just got my dtv in cambodia and I only booked 4 nights on arrival and then winged it from there. Good luck.
