How can I successfully apply for a DTV visa based on dental treatment in Thailand?

DTV Approved based on dental treatment. Sorry if I don't go into extreme details. I spend a lot of time in Thailand on an off but now more time working in my home country. I used to work remotely but not anymore. In the future I definitely plan to spend more time learning Thai in Bangkok and more time in general in Thailand. Before DTV I would have went for a education visa this year and possibly an METV at some point over the next 18 months. So basically DTV cover's all that and more the multi entry aspect is extremely appealing.

Embassy London. Didn't do a lot of research. Just searched for dental within the group. Happy to gamble the ΰΈΏ10,000 but didn't necessarily want to pay for a Muay Thai course.

I've had some treatment before in Bangkok before so they had my records but I emailed a couple more just in case 🀞🏽🀞🏽🀞🏽🀞🏽.

The dentist's were asking for pictures of my teeth and some wanted x-rays which I didn't have. Eventually I got 2 appointments and a sort of treatment plan from a couple of them.

Submitted my application with screenshots of the dentist which provided the most information with 2 appointments and screenshots of my bank account.

More information required. Actual bank statements in pdf and a letter from the dentist signed by a doctor.

I emailed the dentists again. The original said the doctor can only sign medical certificates but would provide an appointment slip which they never did. Then I revised my plan and went back to the dentist which worked on my teeth before. Same issue, a doctor would only sign a medical certificate but they actually did provide an appointment slip this time which is really basic with no signature πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”

So I thought my application is dead in the water and there's no point to continue because I don't have the required signed letter. Anyway I just decided to submit it anyway and I explained everything and added this explanation to the appointment slip. Waiting for the rejection email I got an email asking for flight details 🀐🀐🀐

Wow, surely they wouldn't ask for flight details if my application was rejected πŸ€”. Anyway after supplying flight details I got an email on the 11th Dec Approved πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

I think the dental route is the cheapest but riskiest and surely I got lucky. If you want to go the dental route and you're in the region I'd advise you to visit a dentist and get some official letter for follow up treatment and use that. Once you have an official signed letter it's in the bag as I know another who went this route.

I am in a similar situation. I had some dental work done for a crown and need some additional work (future implant and crown). I got the work done at a government dental office and got a signed and officially stamped letter from them saying I should get an implant done on my next visit, however there are so specific dates or payments. I am currently in Vietnam and wondering if I should apply online, seems like a

shot I have at getting the DTV visa at best. Maybe a gamble worth the $300. What do you think?

You have nothing to lose by asking the dentist to produce another letter including dates. Here's the thing as I've mentioned, if you have a letter with at least 2 appointments then you'll have the visa. You can easily attempt to get this before submitting the application therefore you have nothing to lose by only submitting the application once you have a signed letter confirming 2 appointments

Anonymous participant do you think the appointments have to span larger than a 6 month period?

Mine were within 3 weeks of each other, AFAIK there's nothing official that says otherwise

I did the same with no problem

Best of luck to everyone thanks for post.

@Paul ******
how much did you pay to the dentist before to apply? Is it a minimum required?

I just paid the normal amount for the treatment. I don’t think there’s a minimum required.

I personally would make sure the letter says you have it over a period of months. οΏΌ

I booked two treatments over two months both work on my back molars. It was a dentist I knew in Chaing Mai.

I’ve previously posted I just got him send me a letter on official note paper confirming the treatment over two months that may extend longer.

I hope that helps. I was at the London Embassy οΏΌ οΏΌ

just for reference my 2 appointments were spaced over 2 weeks. I wrote a cover letter explaining that I wanted to get extensive work done over the space of a year.

Hi mate can you PM me with your dentists details?

My dentist only provided an appointment slip which is not what the embassy requires and the likelihood of rejection is high. The London embassy at least require a signed letter confirming an appointment and description of treatment. I know for a fact certain dentist's (not mine) will provide this via email. You'll have to do some digging .

Now that you don't need to sit in a class and get nowhere trying to learn Thai just so that you can get an ED visa, why not try a method that really works?

I wasn't going to class just for the ED visa, I genuinely want to learn and have been for s number of years. Honestly I don't believe in methods or magic systems. You just need a decent teacher and to surround yourself with Thai people and Thai situations. There's no shortcuts. Thanks for the link anyway.

Anonymous participant try it Sam I Am.

Just work through the (free) intro lessons and you will at least learn something that will revolutionize how you think about Thai in your regular classes!

Most people do exactly what you propose (I did too in the beginning) and get nowhere.

No, a "decent teacher" won't help you much, or at least will be very inefficient.

And tell "surrounding yourself with Thai people" to all the expats who have been living here 10 yrs or more and have Thai wives and even children that they still can't communicate with!

Yes ..I was wondering if it would work for me .. I ask the dentist for a letter ..he only did for 6 mths .. so ..after reading a few people who were rejected.. I asked for a 2 yr plan .. that worked...only question asked was... Where your main card account ...mobile banking ? ... I pointed out 50,000 baht deposit into a Thai account ...highlighted every figure that was important...and said it was my partners account and this is the card I use ..it hers .. show her a card .. had no name on it ..just the bank ..that was in Vientiane.. one of last walk in... applied morning 9.15 Monday 16th Dec morning 9.15 ...pick up passport ..and surprisingly a visa ...on Wednesday 18th at 3.30 pm ...used on Friday to re-entry...Happy Pete πŸ™‚πŸ™
