What should I know about applying for a Covid visa extension in Thailand if I'm traveling to Phuket?

Hello,I need help with regards to applying Covid visa extension. Last friday January 7, 2022 we went to Chonburi Pattaya immigration to apply for covid visa extension, but the immigration officer informed us to go back on 13th unfortunately we will travel in Phuket from Jan 11-14. She told us to apply in Phuket immigration office. My concern is if we granted a 60 day covid visa extension, do we have to go back after 30 days for another stamp or can we go to other immigration where we are staying to report after 30 days? Or is it possible that the immigration will stamp our passport for 60 days so we dont have to come back?. Our tourist visa will expire on Jan. 16, 2022. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on applying for a Covid visa extension while traveling in Thailand. They were instructed to apply for the extension at a Phuket immigration office, but they have concerns about the process and timing, specifically whether they need to return to Chonburi or if they can get a longer extension directly in Phuket. Commenters clarify that the Covid visa extension can be maximum 60 days but is granted at the discretion of the immigration officer, and advise on the need for timely application before the current visa expiration.

If your TV stamp expires on Jan 16 then you first get the normal 30 day extension. Which you can do where-ever.

Not possible to get COVID extension for 60 days if not extended normally with the usual 30 days Tourist extension first

Would be a lot simpler to move your trip forward by a couple of days and go back to chonburi on 13 or 14

Phuket will issue you an extension with an under consideration stamp. I don't know how long the under consideration stamp is. I don't think it's fixed. Could be 15 days or 30 days or anything in between.

You will need a tm30 filed in Phuket . You will need to close the loop in Phuket.

If your visa expires on the 16th (Sunday) you might want to consider going in on the 17th at Chonbury, or,consider postponing your trip to Phuket once extension is sorted.

The Extension of Stay based on that you can not travel due to Covid is maximum 60 days and a courtesy of the Immigration Officer. You can apply for it and than depending on officer you get the full 60 days, or until the day you leave this country mentioned on your ticket, or less days or the application goes under consideration and have to leave the country or come back on that date mentioned.

Sorry but if you planned a long stay inside Thailand you should have organized the correct visa. Happy travels.

As long as you apply before the last day mentioned your passport in the stamp Admitted until xx/xx/xx
