TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice for applying for a 60-day COVID-19 extension on their tourist visa, which expires on September 15. Comments suggest that the 'under consideration' stamp is provided during the application, allowing a temporary extension, and it's advisable to apply as close to the expiration date as possible. Documentation needed includes copies of various passport pages, a TM30, embassy confirmation regarding travel restrictions, passport photos, and a fee of 1,900 THB. The Jomtien immigration office in Pattaya handles these applications and will notify the user to return approximately 14 days after applying.

Jomtien inmigration will accept your COVID extension application during the week before your current permission to stay date expires.

They will give you an Under Consideration stamp and have you return again approx 14 days from date of application. You must return on whatever date they give you to close out the Under Consideration stamp and get the balance of the 60 days stamped into your passport. Fee is 1,900 Thai baht.

Make sure you have a TM30 filed for your address of residence in Jomtien Pattaya area.

thank you 🙏 quick question here : what happens if I 'overstay' in between the under consideration stamp and the legit 60 days covid extension, if you know what I mean?

be sure to report back to Jomtien immigration when instructed...

Good luck.

In theory, you will be on overstay. Some people can close out the "under consideration" stamp a few days later without punishment, HOWEVER a person should have a good excuse why they couldn't go in and close it out.

IF the under consideration stamp is denied, you would be on overstay.

NEVER OVERSTAY !!! You may be given 7 days to depart Thailand. And no COVID extension. Forget any thoughts of OVERSTAY.

When you get the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, you *MAY BE* given an "under consideration" stamp with a date to return to the immigration. This stamp is like a "temporary" extension of stay.

The 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 generally begins on the day you acquire the "under consideration" stamp. I recommend applying for it as close to September 15th as possible, if you want to maximize your stay.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and want to use their special forms)

4. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy website saying they don’t issue the letters, OR a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.
