Will my tourist eVisa be approved before my flight on Sunday?

Feeling nervous. Applied for a two week tourist eVisa 11 days ago. Return tickets already purchased (as required prior to visa application). Due to fly Sunday morning. But the application is still pending. Does the immigration give approvals on weekends? Or am I better off trying to reschedule my flights?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about their pending tourist eVisa application submitted 11 days ago, just days before their flight to Thailand. They inquire whether the immigration office approves visas on weekends and if it would be wise to reschedule their flight. Commenters discuss the timing of visa applications relative to purchasing flights, mention that the embassy processes the applications rather than immigration directly, and express that a tourist visa does not guarantee entry into Thailand. Some users highlight the advantages of entering Thailand under visa exemption for certain nationalities.

You get 60 days exempt on arrival free and can extend for 30 more never heard of a two week visa

I was warned at Suvanabhumi that I had used too many visa exempt entries.

did you have proof of onward travel out of Thailand within the 60 days to show you were definitely leaving???

the supervisor who interviewed me said that I need to pay for my visa and stop using the free system. He was polite. We spoke in Thai. He was not interested in anything else. It was my second air arrival of the year. I had done 2 land crossings as well.

fair play. I just thought if you maybe showed him proof of onward travel it might of went down different. Good to know

I’m guessing your not an Aussie but

If you have an Australian Passport, you don’t have to apply.

On my fourth visit this year I was told by an immigration supervisor at Suvanabhumi that I was using the visa exempt system too frequently and that I must apply for an e-visa in the future

this is good information to share. Exempt use seems to be very inconstant.

Immigration doesn't process visa applications. The embassy that you applied is who processes your application.

Thanks... I already tried contacting the Sydney consulate but they don't take telephone visa inquiries and they have not replied to my email.

you wait it out and hope it's approved before you fly in

Michael I have typically purchased my flight tickets after gaining the visa. The visa application asks for your flight details which you can get from the flight company, choose the flight you would be looking to use, take a note of the flight number and use that in the application, don't actually purchase until the visa is approved

@Graeme *****
and if the flight is filled when you get the visa what do you then do ???
Graeme ******
@Norm ********
just get another flight that suits you

I don’t have any issues just trying to help, have been doing this for over 10 years never an issue with embassy or immigration. Easy to get extension stamped

you book another flight. The e-visa is valid for 90 days (is a multi-entry visa) and each time you enter within these 90 days, you will be stamped in for 60 days.

You don't must use the flight you mentioned.

Once you get the visa it doesn't matter. You can enter on any flight.

I was required to submit documents detailing flights and accomodation before the application could progress. I'm not sure if this procedure has been updated since you last used it... or I was misinterpreting the requirement

@Michael *******
you usually just show a tentative booking or a flight number,

I have used evisa earlier this year and just used the flight numbers of the flights I intended using without purchasing the tickets, I never uploaded any tickets just specified the carrier and the valid flight numbers I only uploaded the first hotel I was planning on using. I would suggest you have done what you think they are asking. My visa was approved 👌

not much you can do but wait it out, there's no way to speed the process.

Just curious, why did you apply for a tourist visa instead of coming in free stamp entry for 60 days (the same amount of time a tourist visa gives you)? Do you not come from a visa exempt country?

on my last entry on a visa exemption at Suwanabhumi (my 5th for the year) an immigration supervisor took me aside and said I have entered too many times and I must apply for an e-visa in the future.

wow - I've heard of the limit for land crossings but not really for the air ones!

keep in mind just because you have a tourist visa (or any visa really) to thailand that doesn't guarantee you get IN to the country, only IF they let you in they let you in for the days that visa allows
