Application has been pending approval since May 8th. 13 calendar days so far.
I see a lot of others in similar status, but i feel this is kinda long. Is there a way to follow up with them?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users are discussing various experiences with their pending visa applications in Thailand, particularly those that have been pending since May 8th. Several comments suggest ways to follow up, including calling or emailing the embassy or consulate. Others note the importance of applying well in advance of travel dates and that approval times can vary. There are concerns regarding the potential expiration of current visas during the pending process and the impact on travel plans.
It will be 'interesting' to see, rules actually state you should be in country at time of application but its generally recommended you stay in case get called for interview (which HCMC never seem to do anyway) but latter is not a rule, unlike former
And considering some embassys in west can take months, would be kind of crazy to demand people cannot travel anywhere for that long just because some embassys are slow
If i go beyond next Wendsday/Thursday we will see, messed up on my Vietnamese visa and only asked for 3 weeks thinking would be more than enough, and due to the slow processing of new visas (no exempt for me) on their side a visa run is not doable for me, so will be waiting it out in Malaysia.
So if my visa gets approved after then, when they can clearly see I could no longer be in Vietnam, we will know.

There is a reason most embassies advice you to apply 1-3 months before you plan to travel. Just take that advice and when it is faster you can consider that as positive.
consulate at HCM advises to apply 2 weeks before travel time

Also notice "at least" , so it is not an advice to wait till 2 weeks before travel time, but a minimum time you should take into account, and I think applying for a 5 year visa is not something that just pops up out of the blue, so a bit of planning would not harm.

Padkrapao still just 7 working days including today. I had one in 21 working day received
Would be interesting to see if that gets anyone anywhere with amount of people who seem to be same boat. Been pending since 15th here (orginal app 8th), if they have not caught up to 8th going to start worrying about my Vietnamese visa expiring soon
