What happens if my retirement visa funds fall below 800k THB for a short time before renewal?

Hi ya, I'm due to renew my retirement visa on the 27th September and believe I have to have the 800k in my bank account for 3 mths prior to renewing. Well silly me, 3 days into the 3 mth grace period, withdrew 5000THB too much forgetting I'd made an online grocery order. I quickly deposited it back in within 3 hrs. Now I'm hoping immigration won't stop my visa renewal even though it went under the 800k for a few hours, not days. Does anyone know my chances of being able to renew my visa as I seriously do not want to start the whole process over again? Btw this is my 4th renewal and only mistake 🙃🙄. Fingers xed I get someone good at immigration on my renewal day 🤞😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster worries about being a few THB short of the required 800k in their bank account for their retirement visa renewal due on September 27, as they had a temporary withdrawal. Responses clarify that the funds must be maintained at 800k for a minimum of two months prior to applying for the extension, while extra detail is provided about potential immigration checks on bank accounts and the importance of meeting financial criteria for future extensions.

and I think the O/P (and others) now know that the money needs to be in the bank 2 months before you apply for your extension.

I had something similar with a hotel reservation that made my amount drop under the limit. It is registerred and immigration dis highlight and start counting from that day.

One last thing, remember the funds are required to be seasoned two months before you APPLY for your next yearly extension (which in Bangkok you can do up to 45 days before your current extension expires).

Some people think it's 2 months before their current extension expires and it's not :O

@Tod ********
cheers for that I should just scrape in with a couple of days spare if I apply 3 weeks before the current one expires on the 26th Sept. I did the kerfuffle on the 30 th June. Phew

@Tod ********
thanks for that info. I am going for my first extension this year and had wrongly assumed it was 2 months from expiry date, so that’s saved me from a big error. I’ll have the 800,000 in place by October not November as I had planned!

@Tod ********
does the 3 months after similarly apply to the date you obtain the extension?
Tod *********
@John *********
correct, the 3 months after your extension is granted is counted from the day they stamp it in,

@Tod ********
, how do they check your bank account for the 3 month after extension, or the

0 for the rest of the year? I never had to show a bank statement at my 90day reports

In Pattaya I got a paper with the exact date when I had to show my bank book again!

so if you didn't get that paper when using banked money to get your yearly extension based on being over 50 (retirement) it means your immigration office does not require you to show your bank book 3 months after your extension and they will look next year to see you met the requirements
Tod *********
okay, first off
@Man****
, none of the financial stuff has anything to do with your 90 day reporting.

IF you use an immigration office that requires you to come back 3 months after you got your extension they will give you a piece of paper that states the date you need to update your bank book and show back up.

MOST <- as in all but a few offices DO NOT do this, and they now require the previous 12 months of bank balances when you get your next yearly extension and will look back at that time to see if you kept the 800K baht in the bank 3 months after your preivious extension was granted and then never let the balance go below 400K baht the rest of the year.

This is what that "come back in 3 months" paper looks like

@Manfred ********
. They don't necessarily check at that point, but they'll get you the following year if you go for another extension

thanks so much Todd , I appreciate your help greatly and yes I understand why you should delete the link ;-)

@Wendy **********
I deleted that link you provided because it's just a b/s agency that helps people get visas and has NOTHING at all to do with the thai government or thai immigrations. Be careful where you read your info from

The REAL immigration site is

The rule is exactly what Robert outlined to you. You're quoting OLD or outdated info

This is how it's written

Not until I questioned several times did my local office admit it is 2 months prior, even though they had given me an out dated hand-out the first time I questioned it, so be prepared.

Fortunately for you they seem strict on the 800k baht minimum as I once had to do a visa-run and start again over 49 baht shortfall for a couple of minutes !

and this is the thai

sorry the thai has those words underlined I was trying to make a point to someone else that it says ก่อน (before), ๒ เดือน (2 months), หลังจาก (after) ๓ เดือน (3 months) :P ;)

The requirement for a new 1 year Extension of Stay is 2 months prior application date until 3 months after application date a minimum of 800.000 Thb into a bank account in your name and the rest of the year not less than 400.000 Thb.

I'd love to hope this is true what you state, although I dont understand why the Bangkok Immigration state this: "It is important to note that renewal of a Thai retirement visa is subject to the same requirements as when applying for the visa for the first time. In addition to this any proof of funds in your Thai bank account must have been deposited and cleared at least 3 months prior to your visa renewal application date. Thai Retirement Visa - Immigration Bangkok".So now Im even more confused. Can you tell me your source that advises only 2 mths is required for the monies prior to renewal? I have my fingers xed you are correct .
