Will a shortfall in my Thai bank deposit affect my visa renewal application?

Advise please. I would like to renew my visa by showing an income to my Thai bank of $65,000 a month, unfortunately in September I only deposited $62,000 but in each month either side I deposited over $100,000 with transaction dates on the 4 th and the 29th either side. Will this pose a problem and should I stick to my agent. Visa due in Jan.

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on renewing their Thai visa by demonstrating a monthly income of $65,000. They note that for one month, September, they only deposited $62,000, while the two months before and after, they deposited over $100,000. Users in the comments clarify that Thai immigration requires a consistent minimum deposit of 65,000 Baht each month for 12 consecutive months for visa renewal. Many advise using an agent due to the strict regulations and express skepticism about being granted an exception for a shortfall, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the required financial standards.

You must maintain the 800k requirements for the entire extension before renewing and moving to 65k income method.

It must be 12 consecutive months without fail.

There is zero chance of "close enough".

If you were extremely lucky and the officer doesn't look close enough at your statement...who knows?

You will likely have to maintain the 800k requirements for another year.

But if you use an agent some things can be "fixed".

Karl Wood I presume you mean Thai Baht and not $ when you speak about 65K/month.

Financial Requirements for a Retirement Visa :

-VisaBank Account showing 800,000 -Monthly income of at least 65,000

-Combination , bank account + yearly income = 800,000.

Ex: 300,000 on bank account+42,000/monthly income.

- is this what you do ?

No , I've just read that somewhere a few years ago .

- ah okay. You do know this is thailand and what should happen in theory sometimes gets lost in translation with immigration lol

With you depositing a $100k month just buy your elite visa for ฿1 million baht for a 20 year visa…that’s chump change for a person depositing $100k a month

@Karl *****
your new 12 month count started in October meaning you can't use that method until next year. You have a much bigger problem if you don't have bt800,000 in your Thai bank account already, as it must be in your account for at least two months before you apply for your extension. If not then you start all over by leaving the country, and coming back.

no, my count started in Jan and I got 11 months statements in preparation and that’s when I noticed my small error. All will be fine.

@Karl *****
did you already talk to immigration about it, being short one month in September? They stopped using average amount a few years ago.

Questions I am on a retirement visa:1). Can I do a lump sum that will cover several months

Or

2) I am on planning on being away for two months. And usually just transfer in $2000. 00

Would it be legitimate to just keep that as a balance since I will be out of country

3) what is most popular least expensive way to transfer , Ex: $5000, from US bank to Thailand?
Winston ********
@Fran ****
Believe me Wise (Transferwise) is the best way to transfer. I have been using it for years. Not only do they give the best exchange rate, but they also charge the least fees. You can go and check it out and check with the other methods you use and compare. Also their fees are linked to the method you use to pay. I use direct debit because it is the least. They used to have transfer to only a bank account so if i sent money to someone who didn't have a bank account i had to use Western Union but their exchange rate is much less and fees high like CAD6.50. But now WISE has transfer to an e-walltet and there's a load of options but the most popular is GCash. Try them out will never regret it. and if you find a cheaper option I am ready to try it out too hahaha

I can’t answer the last question but if you are using the monthly method it must be at least

baht every single month without fail.

@David ******
I have done both

consistency would be the answer, I was chasing a better rate. Back to my agent and she is not to bad.

@Karl *****
, true that . We got an agent from Bangkok to do our retirement visa . They're pretty good

Yep, I believe David Cymru's advice is your best bet. It's going to cost you.

You’ll need to use an agent.
Paul ********
I’ve heard many stories of denials in situations like yours, and never heard a “close enough” story.
Brandon ************
It's not a negotiation. The requirements state you must show a minimum of 65,000 every single month for 12 consecutive months. You likely cannot use this method to extend your visa until next year, if you continue making the deposits.

You can always ask, but don't be surprised if they say no.

thanks Brandon, I do have a $5000 baht deposit for that month but it was a normal bank transfer between friends and that would get me over the line but I expect that they would not accept that.

@Karl *****
If it came from a bank outside the country there’s a fair chance it WOULD be acceptable. But if it comes from a Thai bank, nope.
