Hi all, I had a 1 year non immigrant retirement visa but unfortunately I missed the criteria for extension and took out the money before 3 months. I later found out and put back the money to make the balance back to 800k. Anyone had experiences ? Am i able to get the 1 year extension? If not, what should I do? Do i need to go back to the country where I am from and wait and fly to Thailand as a tourist and restart the whole thing again? Any advices? Thanks!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice after failing to meet the criteria for extending a non-immigrant retirement visa due to a premature withdrawal of funds from their bank account. Despite restoring the account balance to 800,000 THB, there are concerns about eligibility for an extension. Community responses suggest that due to the rule violation, the user will likely need to leave Thailand, possibly apply for a new non-O visa outside the country, or return as a tourist and then reapply. The consensus leans towards hiring an immigration agent to navigate this process more smoothly, as they can provide valuable assistance despite the added cost.

See an agent. They will deal with it. As you do have the full amount on a Thai bank they will deal with it. It will cost you a fee for them... but that will be far less than starting all over again. Heard this issue many times before from others who had no difficulties at all this way.

Time to find a good agent.

You'll have to see an agent now. I'm sure they can save you but you are buggered to get it done yourself now. You'll have to start from scratch. Good luck

You may need to consider using an agent. The fact you actually have 800,000 bht in your account when you apply for your extension will help although will still cost you. Better that than have to leave thailand and return. Make sure you abide by rules for following year then no need to use an agent again.

James Stuart Neill I did this exact process when I left the country before Covid and removed my funds. When I returned a couple months later, I deposited the money into a new account because I had closed the old account and they wouldn’t let me reopen it. I used Best Friends Visa in CM for that one year only. I had no issues renewing it on my own the next year.

If you let your balance drop below 800,000 at any time within the 3 months after you received your 1 year retirement extension then you'll not be able to get a new 1 year extension as you broke the rules for your previous extension.

You'd need to leave Thailand (not necessarily to where you're from) and either apply for a new non-O visa outside of the country or return as a tourist and apply for a new non-O visa inside the country.

You said you replaced the money you took out from your account so beware that many immigration offices have a requirement that you can prove your 800,000 was transferred from overseas in order to apply for the initial non-O visa from within Thailand.

also be aware that after the first three months after you get your retirement visa extension the balance in your account can never drop below bt400,000 for the rest of the year. If it does, you can not extend it, and again you must start over.
