What should I do if my Non-O visa is unsigned before my flight to Thailand?

I've just realised that my 1 year multiple Non-O visa hasn't been signed where it says 'authorized signature'. My flight to Thailand is tomorrow so I don't really have time to go back to the consulate to get it rectified. Any idea how much of a big deal this is? My son's visa has been signed and all of my previous stickered visas have been signed too.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user discovered that their 1-year multiple Non-O visa was unsigned right before their flight to Thailand. Although their son's visa was signed, they were concerned about the implications of traveling with an unsigned visa. Multiple commenters offered insights, suggesting that it might not be a significant problem, as immigration officers often check electronic systems for visa validity. Some advised going to the consulate to fix the issue if time permits, while others recommended taking the risk and flying to Thailand, noting that past experiences have shown that unsigned visas sometimes go unnoticed. Ultimately, the user successfully entered Thailand without issue, highlighting that the immigration process seemed to accept their unsigned visa.

Update: I couldn’t get through to the consulate and they still haven’t replied to my email. I went in person before they opened at 9am. Security told me the guy who signs the visas doesn’t start until 10, so straight to the airport with the family. All was fine at BKK immigration, they didn’t say anything just stamped me in for 90 days. I would have lost $400 in flights so I’m glad I ‘risked’ it. Thanks again for all the helpful comments.

The visa looks valid to me so you should be okay.

You should have a receipt to backup the visa.

Shouldn’t be a problem at the border.

Personally I would go and if it is picked up just say you did not notice they had forgotten to sign it. They should then check and let you through. That is my opinion. It is a lot of hassle and cost to reschedule your flights.

Thanks you triggered me to check.

I am not sure but you should be able to enter the country then under normal tourist visa and solve the issue afterwards. But I am not sure, just a thought. Others might comment on this if it is a valid approach.

I don’t think this is possible. If you enter under a visa exempt entry (I assume you mean this rather than tourist visa) then your Non-O would be cancelled. That’s my understanding, but perhaps others can comment.

If it happen to me, I will don't care.

If they clame for it I will say " I don't know, It's not my job"

I think such a problem happens daily at immiglation.

I’d say, just just fly in and if there is any issue at the border, they will definitely pull you aside and they will call the embassy to verify. It will be the same hassle. Visa applications are in the system anyway. They will never trust a visa sticker, especially those with no special security features. That is the reason why most countries don’t do visa stickers anymore or even stamp (Australia, Singapore, etc.)

It should be fine I think. My husband had a hard time to renew once since the officer wrote in Thai ‘Adopt Thai wife visa’ lol

This is common. They wrote wrong name in my visa stamp from Yangon Embassy and I noticed before boarding. It was ok. The immigration didn’t notice/comment. I believe they have pre approval in their system.

If you have time, you may go and fix. If not, just go. It shouldn’t be a problem as the error is from their end.

Quite important, there are 2 possibilities here;

1. Reschedule your flight and go back to the consulate and inform them. Normally this takes only minutes to 1 hour (recommended) If your flight is not very early in the morning you might not have to reschedule it.

2. Take a risk and fly back to Thailand, if the immigration officers notice this they will call the consulate in Yangon to confirm the validity of the visa and let you go.

(I worked at the consulate in Singapore before)

There's no clear signature unlike my son's visa which was issued at the same time.

Wouldn't it show up electronically that it is approved anyway ? When they look at your passport their system should show you are pre approved 🙂

To be honest I have never seen that before

they did write on the visa WHY you got it though, so should be okay..

Unfortunate you didn't notice it before your flight out and go back to the consulate in Yangon to get it corrected.

Post an update on how it goes, if you would

I am noticing it before the flight but my flight is at 11.30am tomorrow and the consulate opens at 9am. I was careful to check all of the details were correct before i left the consulate but i missed the lack of signature. I think it's safest to postpone the flight a day and get it sorted. There's three of us flying so it's going to cost a bit to move the flights. Such is life.
