What should I do if my husband's bank account doesn't meet the DTV visa requirements?

I got my DTV in Tokyo last week. The interview was only 5 minutes; they asked what I'd be doing in Thailand, why I wanted to go, and about my freelance work.

After that, I applied for my husband as my dependent under my DTV. Since I'll be the main provider, I uploaded my bank statement showing more than 2,000,000 THB.

However, they came back requesting additional documents, specifically his bank account showing 500,000 THB. He doesn't have anywhere near that amount in his account.

In this case, should I re-upload my bank statement, or should I just upload his even though it shows far less than 500,000 THB?

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated!
Answer summary
The user recently received their Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and applied for their husband as a dependent. After submitting a bank statement proving sufficient funds, they were asked to provide an additional document showing that their husband has at least 500,000 THB in his account. Since he does not meet this requirement, they seek advice on whether to resubmit their bank statement or to upload their husband's account statement, despite it having a lower balance. Commenters suggest writing a sponsorship letter, uploading their own bank statement, and potentially transferring funds to the husband’s account to alleviate the issue.

What passport do you have?

Is it possible to apply for a visa to Japan with a non-Japanese passport and without a residence permit?

You need to include and combine a sponsorship letter as well as your bank statement and marriage license/certificate.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

You need to show that his name is also on the same account, or you'll need to put money in his account and wait.

How about transferring the money into his account?

we don’t have time. We will be going in 1.5 months. So they will understand that we added money just for the visa since they are asking for 3 months of balance.

Anonymous participant I guess you knew it months ago that you will apply for the DTV and you did not take the decision during your trip to Japan. Why didn’t you just transfer 500k in his account 3 months ago and save this hassle? Were you afraid he will run away with the money or spend it?😀 Well, in worst case you will go to Thailand alone and he stays home, you might even find a new husband there with more money and who already has a DTV🤭

ExcitingPhoenix5743 I also recommend uploading a short explanation together with the sponsorship letter, stating that the full required amount for both applicants is concentrated in your personal bank account.

Make it clear that your spouse/partner does not have a separate bank statement because all funds are under your name and already meet the required amount for both applications.

Just upload the same thing but with today's date.

They most likely just want to see that your account documents are legitimate
