Hey everyone, I’m thinking of applying for the DTV in Ho Chi Minh City soon and trying to get clarity on the financial proof requirement.

I’ve got more than 500,000 baht in GBP sitting in my UK bank account, but it’s only been there for a few weeks. Some places say it needs to have been sitting there for three months, others say it doesn’t matter.

Has anyone here applied in HCMC and got approved with less than three months of bank history?

I can also include a sponsorship letter from a parent with their bank statements and proof of relationship if needed, but I’d rather just use my own funds if possible.

Would really appreciate any recent experiences or advice. Thanks.

The user has recently deposited the amount and seeks clarity on whether the funds need to be in the account for a minimum of three months. Search this group, but I believe HCMC is one of the sites that requires longer time

Ho Chi Minh Thai embassy will require 6 months bank statements. There is no stipulation in writing as to how long the minimum 500,000 baht or foreign currency equivalent has to be in the account. If most of the money has been paid in as a lump sum, as you say, a few weeks prior, you should include in your covering letter where the money is from, i.e it is not a loan from family or friend for the purpose of getting the visa. It is your money, which you intend to use to support your time in Thailand.

I just got approved in Jakarta with the funds in my account for less than two weeks, I would recommend Jakarta personally.
