Good morning! My visa exemption will expire on the 8th (in 2 days), I went to the immigration in CM to extend it today and when I got there I realized it's closed (my fault). Now, as I have to fly to Krabi on the 8th (sunday) and will be my last day in the visa exemption, what can I do to fix this and extend it ? Can I go to krabi immigration on monday? Will it be open? As I'm on a visa exemption I guess I can go wherever I want to extend it (correct me if I'm wrong), will they actually (or can they) give me any kind of issue if I do this? Are they gonna ask me a TM 30 (that I have for my address in CM) or a proof of address of where I'm staying in Krabi?
Thanks in advance for all the answers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on extending a visa exemption set to expire soon while in transit from Chiang Mai to Krabi. They inquire about the possibility of visiting the Krabi immigration office the next business day, if it is likely to be open and busy, and whether proof of address is needed for the extension application. Responses indicate that as long as they visit the office on the first business day post-expiration, they should not incur any overstay penalties. It is advised to carry proof of their accommodation, such as a hotel receipt or a business card from the accommodation provider.
By the way - Krabi Immigration is not in downtown Krabi Town - nor near the airport. It is actually near a big river pier along a long and large avenue of Government buildings. The Government building avenue is newly renovated with street lights powered by little windmills and small solar panels. So you will know if you are near it. You can find it using Google Maps or if you have problems just flag down a motorcycle taxi and have him take you there or lead you there. It won't cost to much.
Your Krabi Address is likely to be enough. Just have it written out. Krabi / Ao Nang is a very active tourist area. Krabi Immigration sees a zillion tourists a year and are fairly leinient unless you have a passport full of Exempt Entries and Tourist Visas. The Immigration office will not likely have an excessive queue. But Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday are the only days open next week - so crowds could be up.
Also, has someone been at the Krabi immigration office ? Is it usually packed of people ? Will the immigration there do the same shifts of th3 office here in CM ?
i just did an extension in Samui bro. I just wrote down the adress of the place i stayed for the night. They dident ask any questions what so ever👍 Now im at Davids new place on Koh Pangan😃
thanks ! I just need to do a normal 30 days extention on a 30 days visa exemption on arrival. Thanks for the info, I have 2 pics but no copies, I'll get them here in CM today
I go regular to Krabi Immigration for the last 15 years. Monday and Friday could be busy. Just after entrance their is a desk with 3 ladies and a ticket machine in Thai and English. The ladies take care 90 days reports and Extensions of Stay for Visa Exempt and Tourist Visa. If you need 1 year Extension of Stay pass the desk to the back side of the office, without a ticket and just join (if other people are there) the queue. There is no copy service or passport picture service in the near area, so bring all with you. They ask 100 Thb for pictures. Re-Entry permits are done on the desk on the left hand between the counter for 90 days/30 day Extension and 1 year Extension section.
If your current admitted until stamp expires on a day the immigration office is closed (weekends or holidays) and you go the very next business day they're open you will not be charged for overstay and can get your 30 day extension like normal. (It will be dated from the day it expires though).
Being on a 30 day visa exempt entry you can get the extension at any immigration office as long as you use an address that is in the area they serve.
I won't actually have any receipt of the hotel, I'm staying in an house owned by a person of my family ... will the business card be enough ? Sorry Tod for all the questions but I would love to get there with all the appropriate documents
, take your hotel receipt and a business card with the hotel's address on it so you can fill out the TM.7 application for extension form correctly. You should be fine.
Thanks Tod! That's what I thought but I wanted to be 100% sure. Do you think they'll ask for a proof of address ? Should I ask the hotel to provide me something to prove where I'm staying ? Hopefully not because I'm not sure they'll be able to provide it for Monday morning as I get there Sunday evening
