TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their tourist visa in Thailand, which expires on May 31, due to a canceled return flight related to COVID-19. Comments suggest that they can extend their visa for an additional 30 days at any immigration office for 1900 baht and provide necessary documents like the TM7 form and photocopies. One response notes that extending until June 30 should be sufficient, considering flight timings.

30 days from May 31 will only get you to June 30th. Depending on your flight time this might work for you (clear immigration prior to 11.59 on the 30th) and no issue. If you are on overstay for one day there generally isn’t a fine but you’d get a stamp in your passport saying something like “overstay 1 day fine waived”.

thank you so much

Any immigration office will extend your tourist visa for a further 30 days. Costs 1900 baht. You need to fill out a form called the TM7, have a passport photo and copies of your passport data page, your entry stamp and a copy of the little white card in your passport called the TM6. Most offices have copy and photo facilities either on site or close by.

If I cannot go back to my country for next 30 days. Can I extend my visa second time ?

a tourist visa can only be extended once. However currently they are selling “unable to travel due to Covid” extensions which give you a further 60 days. Same cost of 1,900 baht. A few more bits of paperwork but usually all available at the immigration office. At this moment in time the last date to apply for one is May 30th - although depending on the situation nearer that date it may be extended. No one knows yet if it will.

Just as a warning. If you were to extend your tourist visa and then apply for a Covid extension be aware that many offices will not add on the date to your current stamp but will give you 60 days from the date you apply. So there is an issue if you try to apply too early for that one.

Most offices allow you to apply 30 days prior to the current stamp in your passport. Some like Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket allow 45 days. Going early isn’t an issue as they add on the 30 days to your existing stamp.
