What is the processing time for the DTV Visa application in Vietnam, and what are the best nearby travel options during the wait?

Hello folks.

I applied last 27th feb in HCM for DTV visa workation.

Our hotel was very close to the embassy so i asked my wife (Thai citizen) to see if they would provide any information about the processing time of my application.

They let her in (not me) and told her that they were pretty busy with many applications that have piled up during TET.

They let her know her that if all paperwork was in order it would take 5 business days (we know this) BUT it could take a bit longer. They said that it would probably be more safe to book a flight back not before 13 or 14 feb.

I like vietnam but i didn't expect to spend so long there. let's be patient. Good luck

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user applied for a DTV visa in Ho Chi Minh City (HCM) and inquired about the processing time. The embassy indicated it could take about 5 business days, but possibly longer due to a backlog from the TET holiday. They suggested not booking a flight before February 13 or 14. Comments included advice on being patient, potential impacts of application errors, and travel suggestions to nearby cities like Nha Trang and Da Lat to make the wait more enjoyable.

Is this just a moan!

You can go to Nha Trang ( beach resort city), or Da Lat ( Highland french vibe city), only 8 hour bus ride or less than 1 hour flight from HCM. I personally can't stay in HCM over a week, too much pollution and traffic.

Not even a week and you send your wife into the embassy. Wow. I'd put your application in the bottom of the pile for expecting the world to revolve around your expectations.

well, if you don't like this group or the way it is managed, you can leave it ? or build your own DTV group maybe ? What's the problem ? You can't send PM to OPs so you get mad ?

Anonymous participant no I just don't hide and act big, I've asked questions and I've helped, it's building a community of which you're not part of. Goodbye anonymous person 😆

Anonymous participant and thus why this group and admin need to control the anonymous aspect of which its every second post now, for this very reason gives the ability to rant and rave at the people they want help from. This group needs to change its criteria or change its name to "Anonymous DTV"

Anonymous participant since last week was Tet, it is as if you applied today. After any long holiday, should expect delays.

it was not sure. A DTV holder said that he received his visa sunday. An other one received on 28 feb. Both in Hanoi. It seems different HCM

Anonymous participant - I don’t know if I believe that. Where did you see this? Here? Also, you keep referencing the wrong month today is Feb 3rd. You mean Jan

If your application submission had any factual errors such as in your post saying you submitted Feb 27th, I'd delay that flight a bit longer
