I would say the options are discussed. Let Us know how it work out tomorrow for the 60 day Extension of Stay based on visiting your wife. As this topic is going far to way off visa issues I close commenting.
Ron *******
You wouldn't mind living in some of the houses they live in.

You can get resident certs from immigration
Barry ***********
@Ron ******
oh I misunderstood you. I think you doing 90 Day reports
Ron *******
@Barry **********
you CANNOT get a resident certificate in Bangkok immigration IF your NOT DOING 90 DAY REPORT'S.
Barry ***********
Sir

I have not called anyone a name. I have friends that live in Bangkok and get resident certscat immigration. It's also o Te Thai immigration website
Ron *******
@Barry **********
for a start off, quit the name calling, then get yourself educated regarding Bangkok immigration rather than making yourself look silly.
Barry ***********
You sure

You need resident certs to get a drivers license or buy a vehicle. U thick they issue them for 500 Baht
Ron *******
Not for people living in Bangkok and not doing 90 day reports. Immigration won't issue them.

but I bet their on a big fat pension promise
Ron *******
Your lucky it's not a new Residents certificate you need from them. They say to allow a month and if it don't arrive, call them. What do you expect though when they only actually work around 16 hours a week? That's not even part time

They all seem to make it up as they go along which is where a lot of misunderstandings arise - unlike the British embassy which just take your money and gives lousy service - come on 10 working days to issue a piece of paper !
Barry ***********
The British Council use to sign income afidavids. Go to immigration where you live and ask them for advise. You might be able to show where your income goes into your bank account. Many offices are asking for proof of income in addition to the embassy income afidavid

Right it goes like this...my extension of stay based on retirement is up on friday the 17th - the British embassy received my paperwork on the 8th and according to my phone call this morning I can expect them back (not in one week ) as years gone by but on the 22nd. So the extension will be finished before the affidavit is returned therefore as suggested by Robert my wife called them about a 60 day reprieve upon which she was told in no uncertain terms that is an old law and has now changed it has in my terminology 'been binned" so it's an agreed overstay or leave the country and start the whole process from scratch...I hope this is clear as to my predicament.

I would say, go with the misses, copy marriage certificate, copy ID and house book of misses and copies of your passport to Immigration Office and ask for the 60 days Extension Of Stay based on visiting your wife.
Ron *******
The exchange rate is looking great this morning. Need close too £1600 to get the 65,000 baht.
Robert *******
The requirements of the 60 day Extension of Stay are still mentioned on the website of the Royal Police Thai Immigration Bureau. We would know if new laws come into place, not heard or read one letter about it.

just been told by Surin immigration that the 60 day extension is now not available - new law

They do say on their website that don't even call until 10 Working days have passed. 10 working days would be the 22nd. I had the same problem. They have a lot more people doing this now, first 3-4 times I did it, it took only 4-5 days. Now I always do it early enough, it is good for 3 months at immigration.

they recieved it on the 8th and are telling me on the phone I cannot expect to receive back it before the 22nd In years gone by it's been returned within a week !
John *****
Last year my affidavit was back to me in 8 days even though it states longer so there's hope yet unless the embassy has already said definitely not.
Robert *******
If you're married you can apply for the 60 days Extension of Stay to visit your wife without financial requirements. This will give you some time. This affidavit is valid for 6 months, so you can apply a little earlier next year.
Robert *******
We need to know more about the way he applied for this Extension. Just writing there is a new law, the binned the application and my wife just phoned them is not going to help.
Lance *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
you can't do that in Surin...
Steve *******
@Robert ******
Ok, I didnt know that.
Robert *******
No, I was on 1 year Extension of Stay based on Marriage, got the wrong income letter so had to apply for new one which took to long time and applied and got 60 days Extension to visit my wife. Went back with the new income letter and got 1 year Extension based on marriage after these 60 days. No problems.
Steve *******
I dont think you can get the 60 day extention on top of your yearly extention of stay. The 60 day extention to visit family is only for visa or visa exempt entries.
Robert *******
Lance Houston What papers did you bring to Immigration and what is the reason they binned your papers?
Lance *********

yes in the bin

it's been bined friend - new law as of five minutes ago !

As long as you haven't done that 60 day ext. before on that visa. You're only allowed one at least for americans. I needed to extend a 2nd time to allow my $ to "season" and found it wasn't possible. Had to go to Vientiane for new visa. :(
