I am really at a loss about how to get my extensions- i am a UK citizen - I have a one year Non O Dependents visa issued at Thai Consulate in HCMC it expired on August 5th. (Ie if I came in on August 4 th I would have had 90 days extra) I am supposed to exit max every 90 days after each entry (last entry March 19th) I have been with my wife to immigration in Samut Prakarn twice and spent hours there. The last time they said that our marriage needs to be registered with the amphur - we went there - 2 hours later we were told we need a certified copy of my passport from British Embassy - I tried to book an appointment for that and was told that earliest slot is October 8th.

I have had money in my USD Account in Thailand since late August (never needed to show this before). I have been reading the posts here and no one seems to be in my position.

Was married in Singapore in 1997 - Kid is 21 years old now, at Uni in UK.

Please help with some advice ?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen with a one-year Non O Dependents visa is seeking advice on extending their visa, which expired on August 5th. They are facing challenges with visa regulations, including needing their marriage registered and obtaining a certified passport copy from the British Embassy. The discussion outlines possible steps to obtain a 30-day extension at immigration, complete the marriage registration and secure the necessary documentation to apply for a yearly visa extension based on marriage.

it's your ONLY choice. :/

unhelpful or not, you either get that letter and get the 30 day extension so you can work thru what you need to do OR as immigration put it in the amnesty decree you "prepare to depart" on or by the 26th.

Good Luck, I can't see any other options, so I'm gonna close the post so you don't get bad advice

No disrespect but you got very LIMITED options & you also have VERY limited time to get this done (seeing as amnesty expires next Saturday the 26th), :/

Honestly I think that post i made where I said it could work this way is your best course of action. get the 30 days, get the marriage registered, then go for the year if your money is seasoned before the 26 of Oct, OR get the 60 day extension and then do the year after that.

My advice; get a hold of your consulate ASAP and request that embassy letter.

When they ask for support documents send a copy of the marriage certificate and say you are working on a year extension. they should issue it for that.

thank you - I will try the British Embassy again - they were most unhelpful last week when I called and referred me to the website and then never replied to my email

It COULD work this way:

1 - Get the letter from the UK embassy so you can go get a 30 day extension based on embassy request at the immigration office. That will take you until Oct 26,

2 - Go to your appointment on the 8th to get your passport certified

3 - go immediately to get the marriage registered at the amphur,

4 - go back to the immigration office before that 30 day extension expires and apply for the yearly extension based on marriage to a thai

Sounds like he's going to need all that time to give his funds 2 months seasoning in the bank anyway. Will depend how late that late August is

Once he gets that marriage registered he could apply for the 60 day visit thai family extension if he's not got enough time to let the funds season the full 2 months. That'd buy him the time to get his ducks in a row and quacking in time.

I doubt you're going to be able to get either a 60 day OR a year extension (if you meet the financial requirements) without having that Kor Ror 22 <- the form you get from the amphur that shows a thai was married abroad.

The fact you didn't need to show the proof of funds (400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months) when you bought the VISA from a thai consulate in another country has nothing to do with you need to do it inside the country at the immigration office to get the year extension based on marriage to a thai. Those are two separate scenarios totally and have nothing to do with one another.

Okay, so let's weed out the needless info

you held a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa where you would bounce in and out every 90 days, your last 90 day entry was March 19 (which would have stamped you in until June 16th. The Non-O VISA expired in Aug (which isn't a big deal because you weren't able to bounce out and back on it anyway. AND you've been on amnesty since June when your 90 day stamp expired. Also you got the equivalent of 400K baht into your bank account here since late Aug (meaning the 2 month seasoning would be in late Oct)

Is that correct info?
