I am from the United States. I’m here on a tourist stamp. I have already gone to immigration office in Khon Kaen to get my 30 day extension. I am working on applying for a non immigration O marriage visa. My wife is a Thai national. We have been working on getting the paperwork ready and have our USA marriage certificate translated to Thai. My appointment in Bangkok to get it certificate at the Department of Consular Affairs next Tuesday the 15th. My extension stamp expires on September 7th. I’ve heard everything has to be done or filed 21 days before my stamp expires. It doesn’t look like I’m going to make it. Can I do a border run or any advice would be appreciated. The long holiday sure didn’t help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen currently in Thailand on a tourist visa is seeking advice as their extension expires soon while they are applying for a non-immigrant O marriage visa. They have mentioned they will have their marriage certificate translated and an appointment at the Department of Consular Affairs but are worried about the 21-day rule before expiration. Community members suggest applying for a 60-day family visit extension at the local immigration office as a potential solution, and there is some discussion about the required time remaining on the visa before applying.
