What are the implications of early and late 90-day reporting in Thailand for visa holders?

I just did my first 90day report, but realize now that because I did it 8 days before 90days, now I am supposed to do it again on April 15th, while my DTV stamp expires April 23rd.

So it seems it would have been better to do it exactly at 90 days to stay the maximum days while only 90 day reporting 1 time.

Online reporting was rejected so I went in person. I am not sure if I will be accepted in the future.

It can be reported, but there will be a fine, but the amount is not large.

Wait, having a DTV visa, means we need to do some report filling? Any link to read details about it?
Fontaine **************
Who even states or gives you paperwork or email that you have to report every 90 days? I’ve heard they don’t even tell you. And some soft power schools have been telling me you don’t have to do 90 day reporting?🤷🏻‍♂️
Marco ***********
You can either do it online or renew your visa earlier together with 90 days report.
คน ******
If you go abroad, let say bouncing abroad for DTV extension, resets 90-day report. You have to go in-person for next time again.

yes we were told the same by the IO in Krabi

I had read that too. If the count resets then the in-person resets too. I always go in person anyway.

You can do it online in a couple minutes

yes it took a couple of minutes, but was rejected.

your second one ??

I'm hoping I won't have a second one.

I'll take a holiday every 180 days or so, to get a new stamp.

From these comments, it seems every new entry will require an in-person report.
Greg ********
You can also do it 7 days after so maybe better doing it late then no need for 2nd if doing border run at 180 days
Wayne *********
Second time can do online. Or if you go the next time you can also ask for a residency certificate so you can open a bank account or use too get Thai driving licence

@Wayne ********
Depends which office. Not all you have to wait to do 90 Day before can get Residency Certificate. All have theor quirks and you get to know them
Wayne *********
@Greg *******
yes for your 1st 90 day, but reporting for the second time then most should do it
Greg ********
@Wayne ********
Jomtien will give you residence certificate as long as TM30 is registered. No need to wait for a 90 day report. In fact you can get it on Visa Exempt according to guys who got it to buy bikes. It depends on the office policy.

@Wayne ********
No, the second report would be done in person as you would be due for an extension. On day 270, you could do an online report, but that could only be done once a year (as in, online once a year), because by the 360 day mark you have to leave the country and the clock resets.
Tod *********
nothing makes you STAY in thailand the whole 180 days (as in you don't need to be a "day counter") you get another 180 day stamp every time you enter the country so leave before your next 90 day report comes due

OR

file it online (from 2 weeks before down until 1 week before the due date) and see if you get approved before you're scheduled to leave

OR

do nothing, <- the officers at passport control where you stamp out of thailand don't care if you EVER filed a 90 day report, (that's not their job) so just leave when you're going to leave in april and don't worry about it
Anonymous ******************
@Tod ********
are you sure of this? Because if you don’t do the 90days report they will make you pay the THB2K fine at the airport , and might raise your profile to the immigration. Isn’t it?
Rogerio ******
Anonymous participant 167 I missed my 90 day report last Dec and I was flying out anyway on day 102(so 12 days late). Flew back in last week to bkk. Nothing was mentioned about my supposed fine.

I’m told (maybe it was Todd on this thread), only if I have any business with immigration they might bring it up to pay the 2000thb fine.

I’m on DTV.
Tod *********
Anonymous participant 167 total b/s I know with 100% certainty the people at passport control at ANY of the entry/exit points to thailand don't care if you EVER did a 90 day report (it's not their job)

They CAN'T fine you 😮 That 2000baht fine is if you are over a week late and GO to the immigration office to file a report,

If you have a 90 day report receipt from a previous time you did file one in your passport just take it out, before you go thru passport control, nothing will happen at all

You can just show up at the airport or land border, stamp out and leave, no one will say anything.

my friend was fined and spent time with the agent in a small room. With everything in place, working permit from Day 1 in Thaïlande and here for more than a decade. So curious also why so many people are stressing the 90 days report in this group if you just have to go and leave
Tod *********
Anonymous participant 167 your friend has their wires crossed, they most definitely wouldn't have been pulled aside for not doing a 90 day report OR get fined at the airport or land border for failure to file when stamping OUT of the country.

That section of immigrations (Passport Control) doesn't care about 90 day reporting and they can't fine people for failure to file one when they go to stamp out 😕

There is more to this story than your friend is relating to you
Tod *********
@Marcus *******
no you're confusing the window to apply in person (from 2 weeks before to 1 week after) with leaving the country during that week after

That week is NOT a grace period to get out of the country without filing. It's to give you a week after the due date to file in person without a fine

All I'm saying is that IF you don't file, NOTHING will happen when you stamp OUT of the country or stamp back in. Passport control doesn't care about 90 day reporting

@Tod ********
thank you for the information. So as long as I leave before 7 days past my 90 day report is due, I won't get fined. Got it 👍 thanks!
John **********
@Marcus *******
if you don't file a 90 day report when required you might get fined the next time you go to immigration. The 7 days grace period only applies to filing the report not to the 90 day period itself.
Anonymous ******************
@John *********
I've left several times after the 90 day period without filing , and it's NEVER ever been raised by immigration on subsequent visits. They look only at the last entry stamp and the last 90-day report

You should be able to do it online next time unless you're address changes

@John *********
my address will change as now I am traveling in the north so my tm 30 is in a hotel. Next time it will be in Bkk.
John **********
@Marcus *******
when you return to Bangkok you should file a new TM30 and then should be OK
Marcus ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
Are you saying that my second 90 day report will be accepted online even if it's not the same address as the first one?
John **********
@Marcus *******
yes but you must have the TM30 address matching and will need to file between 14 days before and 7 days before your due date
Wayne *********
@Marcus *******
make sure TM30 is updated. You can apply online for the 90 days I think 1 week before the date comes up so it will give you time too see if it is accepted or not. If rejected you have to do again in person then it will be up to you to extend on that day or go back to immigration when the extension date is
Paul *******
@John *********
But online can ONLY be done once on each entry. If you get an in country extension, you effectively report in person at the 180 day mark, as you'll need to extend your stay then. For the 270 day report, that can be done online. At the 360 day mark, you need to depart either way, so no point in filing a report then.
John **********
@Paul ******
for the DTV you can do online 3 times for each entry depending on timing, they may not ask you to report when getting an extension but I take your point
Paul *******
@John *********
No, you can't. You do it once. The second time you're going in person for an extension and why would anyone report on day 360 when they have to leave the country anyway?

You can, in practice, only do ONE online report for a 360 day DTV stay, which is on day 270.
Julien ****
Isn't online reporting an authorized option after the first in person filing ?
Fontaine **************
@Julien ***
I have had people straight up tell me you don’t need to do the 90 days reporting. And what people are saying is you just bounce out of the country and bounce back in and get a new stamp

You are making a good point. It would be good to find official documentation on this.

when you enter you have to do the next one in person
Toni *******
@John *********
when i did my 90d they told me online not possible for dtv. I registered on the site and tried to see, but there is no "dtv" option for visa type
Rogerio ******
@Toni ******
since you can only stay 180 days, and the first one has to be in person? You would never need to file a second one.

Unless you get an extension, but I think dtv is so new few people have passed the initial 180 days yet.

I don't get asked for a visa type?

did you do it online for the second report John ?
