I have been out of Thailand for the last 10 days. When I am trying to pay rent to my Thai Landlord by using my Bangkok bank account, it says " you do not have any account registered for payments (AB09) Does it mean that my account is deactivated or closed?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is experiencing issues with their Bangkok Bank account, receiving an error message 'AB09' while attempting to make a rent payment. Comments suggest this may indicate financial restrictions or errors with the recipient's details. Several comments highlight that banks in Thailand, including Bangkok Bank, may freeze or close accounts associated with non-valid long-term visas, leading to potential difficulties in accessing funds. Various users offer advice on alternative methods for making payments, including using a bank card or services like Wise for money transfers.
Went to BB branch today to close it, only to be told I couldn't get my funds for a further 4 weeks , which is a wee bit inconvenient!.

Btw when you buy a condo you are supposed to show a FET form or Tor Tor 3 to show the funds were sent from outside of Thailand đšđ

The year is 2025.
People still put money into Bangkok Bank (or any Thai bank), without interest and without access to their own money. They then waste days of their life trying to recover it. Meanwhile BTC just reached $125,000.
What is the lesson?

You will get your money back. When you come back to Thailand, go to the bank and close it. Best to go to the branch where you opened your account. Good luck.đ
thank you after these comments feeling little better nowđ

The BBL bank is making ALL accounts (that were opened with agents without valid long term visa) CLOSED.
If only u have valid long term VISA with necessary documents , you have to submit them again to the bank and need to wait for 2 weeks to get approval from Head Office. They will let you use your account again only after the approval.
I just had this exact thing happen to me. Same error. Itâs because of the DTV. I went in and the teller wasnât sure what it was so she called another employee and they said it was because of DTV. I set the account up without an agent, I told her we had personally met with the manager, lease a house, have a daughter in school, etc.
She apologized but ultimately they still shut it down. No exceptions in my case :/

I am back on holiday in Thailand and actually talk to the branch manager on Line App but nothing he can do unfortunately. He will try to arrange it for 2 weeks for the funds as he knows me but can normally take 4 weeks he warned me. I am here until end of October fortunately
you will get it back , cash over the counterâŚ. Not sure why you would have that much cash in your account, even if they do un block it I would highly advise only keeping âspending money â eg rent fun and food
oh yeah fair enough, I would probably read into that more also. When transferring the condo into your name, they will want to see the transfer coming from overseas as a âforeign â transfer to the owners account.
Iâm sure you are on top of it but yeah I know you can directly transfer from a Thai account for valid condo ownership đ
