Hello. My daughter applied for a tourist visa (60 days) and got rejected. Which is a surprise because she visited 4-5 times before without any problems. As a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, could she arrive and get “visa on arrival “ which is for 15 days, and then later extend it for another 2 weeks? Or could she leave for the weekend and re-enter again? Please I need any advice because she needs to travel in 2 week already… thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Kyrgyzstan citizen who was denied a tourist visa can apply for a visa on arrival for 15 days in Thailand. It's essential she provides proof of funds, proof of onward travel, and accommodation. The visa on arrival cannot be extended for another two weeks, but she may apply for a one-time extension of 7 days at an immigration office. Alternately, she might leave and re-enter Thailand to obtain a new visa on arrival, though its approval is at the discretion of immigration officers. Clarification on her previous visa rejections could provide insights into her situation.

What is her history of the "4 or 5 times before". Were all these visits recent?

yes, recent. Latest was in January-February 2025, she stayed with me as I work in Thailand for the last 3 years. Each year she visited for 2 months, sometimes twice a year

then that is why she would have been refused. Thailand has been cracking down on use of tourist visas to stays that are not a typical tourist stay. At age 25 she can't get a dependent visa. There are not many options for her to stay here. She can try a visa on arrival but that can't be extended so only gives 2 weeks.

thanks. I need to look into this. But all we need: for her to stay one last time for 1 month, as my assignment is finishing on 1 September and we all leave then

if only one month, I think you should pass on her visiting Thailand this time... meet up with you when you are in your new assignment location.

I'm not certain on this (the mods here are awesome and can confirm for you) but if you're working in Thailand, maybe she can apply for a Non-O dependent visa?

depends on her age but that would be the way to go

she is 25. I just assumed that tourist visa requirements are easiest… I imagine there is many more documents we need to submit for a dependent visa.. right?

Kyrgyzstan passport holders can get a visa on arrival for 15 days for 2000baht when they land here. As a rule they have to show proof of 10K baht or the equivalent, proof they're leaving the country in 15 days, and proof of lodging for the entire stay.

There is no 2 week extension on the 15 day visa on arrival 😕 She could get one 7 day 'get out of thailand in a week' extension for 1900baht at the immigration office then she'd have to leave.

Now as far as could she bounce out/back to get in on a new 15 day visa on arrival for another 2000baht that'd be between her and the officer at passport control when she goes to stamp in..

Just curious what was the reason she was denied the tourist visa application, usually they will tell you in the rejection email why it was denied..

Remember recently they re-implemented the 20K baht or equivalent in a bank account financial requirements to get a tourist visa. Did she submit the proof of funds when she applied?

I just wonder: is it realistic to re-apply right away? But without knowing rejection reason, it’s hard to improve application. Should we contact the consulate?

😮 strange that they denied it without a reason, you might try to contact the consulate (try their f/b page if they have one)

OR

You can re-apply but without knowing why it was denied you really are just hoping it goes thru this time.

there was no reason for denial at all it said “ your visa has been rejected. Please fill out this survey, your opinion matters to us” -something like that. That’s all! And yes, submitted bank statement for 700 usd
