Hi there need advice urgent my wife is philippine she has been working as a teacher here on a non B , the problem is because of a mager stuff up by her school her latest work permit has not yet been granted ( it will be in 1-2 weeks) . The thing is her non B runs out today 8 sept she went to immigration on friday but they won't exstend her visa without the permit , there advice was go across the border get a 60 day stamp to stop over stay being charged daily then go to Savanaket in Lao for another non B when her permit is issued

But now i have been told she won't be allowed out of Thailand without a tax clearance paper is this true

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking urgent advice regarding their wife's Non-B visa, which is set to expire soon due to a delay in her work permit. They encountered challenges at immigration, who advised leaving Thailand to obtain a 60-day visa stamp while waiting for the work permit. Confusion arises about needing a tax clearance document to exit the country. Community responses clarify no such requirement exists, share alternate solutions like a short trip outside Thailand, and confirm that obtaining a new tourist visa is a viable option.

Singapore also imposes certification of tax clearance before a foreigner can leave the country.. if your employment pass (or other work permit) is cancelled you cannot travel if there is an outstanding tax liability.. your passport is blocked by immigration!

Best option is to fly out of Thailand then return with a Tourist 60 day stamp. No border run because they treat those differently. Stay at least one day out of Thailand day then return tell immigration you will do a new visa type later. It's more expensive but it's better because they will give you a new tourist visa and then need to do a new Non B visa once school sorts out their process. I've seen guys try go Laos with Non B but then they ask for loads of stuff and it's much better to just leave Thailand, which cancels your Non B, and start over. As long as she doesn't have a work permit and extended visa then she's ok. Singapore has got 8k return flights or try Malaysia or anywhere. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Yeah the general consensus is she should be ok to leave so we are going soon only 40 min away on motorbike

It's not the work permit that has not been renewed its the teaching licence ( kruesapaa) i got it wrong apparently they changed the rules and you now need to do and pay for some sort of module which she did'nt know about

The school she works at has always used agents but becouse she is a good teacher they decided to employ her direct , but unfortunately they did'nt know the rules

Hi..just do visa run in Cambodia..who told you about that tax clearance? That's not true..and why the sch did not do anything extend her work permit?..renewal of WP is very easy..bcs it is just to submit the same docs as her previous visa with the new contract & with new validity on it..my school renews my WP and visa as early as 1 month before it's expires.i am working in the same sch for almost 7 years now.renewal of WP and visa is the easiest thing to do rather than to go to Lao and process new non b again and process new WP again.she must go out Thailand today or else she will be fined 5h/day kha

tax receipt is not yet applicable sir..maybe they need only the tax registration receipt...sending you inbox messages sir.

And who told you that? A country can't keep you hostage over a slip of paper, and there's no requirement to show a tax clearance paper to leave the country.

the Philippines will and they do all the time. I am unsure of Thailand but yes some countries will.

@Kevin ******
pretty sure thailand did have this rule in place in the past

Philippine is though far worse than thailand getting papers and permits for every thing

I know my wife had to get a paper from the philippine embassy in bangkok saying she had employment in thailand or she would'nt be allowed to to come back after a holiday to see her family

for their own citizens, not for foreigners. That's imprisonment
