TLDR : Answer Summary
You can extend your two-month tourist visa for an additional 30 days while in Thailand, allowing for a total of 90 days. To stay for an additional 20 days, consider applying for a Covid extension if available. If the Covid extension is not an option, you could do a visa run to a neighboring country. Overstaying is not advisable as it comes with fines and potential bans from re-entry.

Hello. Are you Filipino?
Rassel **************
I got my 30 days stamp when I entered Thailand. Then extend it for another 30 days. I tried to extend again for another 30 days, but the officer told me I can not extend anymore since I maximized 60 days.

Your options will vary by time time you need the additional 20 days. I think land borders will open and they may do away with Thai Pass, that will make visa runs easier. You may wish to visit a neighboring country while you are here. Come, hang-out 2+1 months, go Cambodia 3 weeks, fly home through BKK, not a bad option.

@Hans ******
, look at the STV visa maybe ?

More requirements, but think this one suits you best. I would not rely on Covid extensions when those 20 extra days are important to you.

@Ha**
, it's a Special Tourist Visa. You can stay for 90 days and make an extension of stay two times for again two times 90 days. Look on the Thai Embassy website in the country you are/come from for the requirements. I thought this STV possibility will be ended September this year. (Don't know if this possibility will be extended)

Can u say B500 x 20šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„ over stay is your name Pal

It's easier enough when your there , plenty of conpanies will help you out.

But just remember

KEEP YOUR HANS OF YOUR WILLI

The fine for overstaying is 500 Baht per day, reaching a maximum fine of 20,000 Baht (when overstaying 40 or more days). When overstaying for a significant amount of time (90 days or more days), it is a serious offense that you could face deportation and ban from entering Thailand

@Braulio ********
Overstay might get you banned, not a day or four, but 20 actually may.

When are you arriving? You can apply for your 30 day extension at any time and it will start from the end of your 60 days - once youā€™ve applied for that if you find a generous immigration office you can then apply for the Covid visa which will start from the day you apply (60 days) so if you time it right before the Covid visas stop you can get it that way.

In my experience you can not get the Covid visa until you have exhausted all other options aka already gotten your thirty days extension. When I went they started my Covid extension from the day it was approved however I do know people who were able to get the Covid visa to start from the end of their current extension. You just need to do the math

@Daniel ******
from what Iā€™ve noticed I think they start your covid extension the same day for the first one, and any after fr the end of your current. I could be incorrect and maybe itā€™s not the same for everyone but that seems to be pretty common šŸ™‚
Daniel *******
@Billie-Joe *******
I only got the one because it covered my entire stay but you might be right. I went to pai and they were being very strict about it and gave me the under consideration stamp - but I have friends who went in the south and they had a much easier experience

@Daniel ******
I did my first in Koh Phangan and nothing was questioned at any moment, even fro the man next to me who didnā€™t know if he was on number

šŸ¤£

Iā€™m going to head back to Phangan to do the next one purely for peace of mind (plus I do my miss my doggies šŸ¤£)
Daniel *******
@Billie-Joe *******
yeah I definitely recommend the south! Iā€™d try this before I voluntarily went in to overstay like other people are saying but thatā€™s just me šŸ˜¬
Billie-Joe ********
@Daniel ******
much more chill šŸ¤£ that one had all the paperwork in a filing cabinet outside so you could crack on before they opened (late) šŸ¤“šŸ’œšŸ¤£ Agreed! Timing is everything

run the gauntlet of a stay in the IDC and a 5 year ban, yeah like that's good advice.

@Lyndon ***********
guess what... that's what I did !
Alain *******
@Lyndon ***********
how can you get caught ? I stayed 2 years in Thailand, never asked for my passport, even when the police stopped me.
Lyndon ************
@Alain ******
I was asked for my passport, by police, just yesterday in Bangkok. Yeah only for the second time this year but there is always a realistic chance of it happening. Not forgetting everywhere you stay asks for your passport
Alain *******
@Lyndon ***********
and did they check your visa ?
Lyndon ************
Alain *******
@Lyndon ***********
so I guess you're really unlucky šŸ˜
Lyndon ************
@Alain ******
no, unlucky would have been to have been stupid enough to go onto overstay and then get caught. I was lucky I had my passport with me with time to run on my stamp
Alain *******
@Lyndon ***********
anyway, it's an option. Maybe he doesn't plan to come back in the next 5 years. I stayed 2 weeks on overstay, nothing wrong happened to me. Just pay at the airport...
Lyndon ************
@Alain ******
good for you, not exactly good advice though. You could have obtained a further covid extension and still be here legally
Alain *******
@Lyndon ***********
cannot, I tried everything. Even when I went to the immigration I was already on overstay. They didn't care at all...
Lyndon ************
@Alain ******
already on overstay... Well what else did you expect? I arrived in Feb 2020 on a tourist visa and ran with covid extensions all the way through. No under the table volunteer visa, thinking I could fool the system... That's where you went wrong
Alain *******
@Lyndon ***********
yes I get a volunteer visa and then what ? Is it forbidden ?
Lyndon ************
@Alain ******
how much did it cost?
Alain *******
Lyndon ************
@Alain ******
how much is 'a lot'? 2000thb isn't a lot
Alain *******
Lyndon ************
@Alain ******
so 48,000 of that was a bribe split between your agent and a bent immigration officer.

Whereas you could have continued with covid extensions at
*******
days...
Alain *******
@Lyndon ***********
less than 90 days you will not get any ban.
Lyndon ************
@Alain ******
if you get caught it's a 5 year ban plus a stay in the IDC while you are processed, a flight home on your national carrier airline and additional costs of your secure transfer from the IDC to the airport
Daniel ******
@Lyndon ***********
relax Karen, overstay is good advice on this particular case. 10k baht fine to save arsing a round
Lyndon ************
@Daniel *****
tell that to the people who are caught and awaiting processing in the IDC
Stuart *********
You can extend once for 30 days. When the time comes, if theyā€™re still selling covid extensions you may apply for one of those for another 60 days.

If not then a bounce to a neighbouring country is probably the best bet.
Rassel **************
@Stuart ********
hello. Can I extend my visa under covid extension? I already extend my tourist visa and tried to extend again for the second time, but the officer did not allow me. What should I do? Thank you.
Stuart *********
@Rassel *************
you can apply for a Covid extension up until may 24th. However the extension is up to the discretion of the immigration office(r) so no guarantee that they will allow it.
Rassel **************
@Stuart ********
what should I say to the IO? And what form should I fill out? Should I fill out same form like I used when extending for the my first 30 days? Or thereā€™s an specific form for covid extension?
Stuart *********
@Rassel *************
Youā€™ll need this stuff. Not all offices have the same requirements so it may be slightly different depending on which of the 70+ offices you use.

A copy of your passport data page (signed),

A passport photo,

Proof of filing a TM30,

A copy of your departure card (TM6) (signed)

A copy of your latest entry stamp (signed)

A copy of any previous Covid extension stamps (signed) (Phuket requires this other offices may not)

In Phuket they require the copies to be in portrait not landscape. This means the top of your passport aligns along the shorter side of the A4. Except for the Data Page where most passports are ā€œsidewaysā€

(Other offices may not be as pedantic)

A filled out TM7 (application form for extensions) - the form doesnā€™t have a space for your email or phone number but just write it on the back (page 2).

A filled out STM2 (acknowledgement of terms of temporary stay)

A filled out ā€œI donā€™t want to leave because of Covid formā€ - I have no idea if it has an official name or number.

And 1,900 baht.

The forms are available at your local office. Most have places on site or nearby that can do the copies and photos.

Many offices will give you a ā€œunder considerationā€ stamp requiring you to return somewhere from 5-14 days later where they will stamp for the remaining 60 days. If they do you MUST use the same office to ā€œclose outā€ that stamp. For example you cannot get a ā€œunder considerationā€ stamp from Bangkok and close that out in Chiang Mai 15 days later.

If itā€™s your first time applying for the extension theyā€™ll date it from the day you apply, so youā€™d lose any remaining days you have on your current stamp. Subsequent applications would be added on to the existing stamp.

what if im entering Thailand using visa on arrival? I still can get covid extensions sir?

got another option? Best visa suggestion you could advise me? Tq šŸ™šŸ¼šŸ™šŸ¼
Stuart *********
@Migg ******
up until May 24th, but youā€™d need to get a regular 30 day extension first, and Covid extensions are up to the discretion of the immigration office(r).

@Stuart ********
this is my first time going to phuket and plan to extending my visa, may i know where to go and how about the process and document should I prepare? This will be a big help for me..
Stuart *********
@Migg ******
these are the requirements in Phuket.

You can do a visa exempt extension at the main Phuket town office (room 101), at the Patong beach office or at Blue Tree water park.

For a Covid extension you must use the main Phuket town office (room 204).
