Hello everyone. Just checking to see if anyone has experience dealing with the Thai Embassy in Ottawa, specifically for tourist visas. We applied/paid on October 20, and were asked for and submitted some additional documents on October 23 but it's been radio silence since and our dashboard hasn't been updated to reflect that the documents were received. Emails have gone unanswered and whoever is manning the phone/FB Messenger basically said "When they get to it, they'll be in touch" and "It takes 20 business days for visas to be processed".

Basically, I just wanted to see if anyone had experience with it taking LONGER than 20 business days and if this lack of status updates is typical.

Thanks for any insight!

They described submitting additional documents and facing a lack of communication from the embassy. Responses from the community indicate variability in processing times, with some applicants experiencing longer waits due to document re-submissions.

I did 🙋🏻‍♀️ Although not for a tourist visa. I’ve dealt with them last month.

The whole family applied, my husband got it in 9 days.

While me and my kids in 25 days, even if our documents were complete, they wanted some extra clarifications… And when that happens, you resubmit - naturally, so the clock resets.

Hence it could take up to 30 days if you resubmit however it is very unlikely to have to resubmit extra documents twice.

Don’t forget it’s 15 business days, (in my case) but the system does update and the email/ visa will come.

You’ll be in Thailand, soon enough, enjoy!!

thank you! This Friday will be 15 business days since we submitted the additional requested document. We're scheduled to fly on the 24th of November so I'm really hopeful they got what they need from us and we will hear back between this Friday and next. Thanks again for your comment.

Patience is a virtue....

If you have submitted the requirements for the Thai tourist visa...it should be issued.

That will get you 60 days stamp on arrival into Thailand Plus one 30 day extension of stay from your local Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

What is your passport nation? Is it Canada?

How long are you wanting to stay in Thailand?

I believe that the OP has feedback from others re time to get the Thai tourist visa from Ottawa.

We wish the newlyweds a happy and safe Honeymoon in Thailand.

I'm from Trinidad and Tobago. My country does not have a Thai embassy, so we're required to have our documents processed by the embassy in Ottawa. We're just going for nine days on our honeymoon. Hopefully!

do you hold resident status in Canada?

If you have made an application for the Thai tourist visa and it's under consideration by Thai Consulate in Ottawa, then you should be receiving it soon.

"For travelers who require a visa, please note that visa approval takes up to 20 business days once complete application with all supporting documents have been submitted. Online visa application (click here)"
