What is the process for obtaining a travel visa for Thailand through the Embassy in Ottawa?
Has anyone been able to reach the Thai Embassy in Ottawa?
I'm trying to contact them to sort out a travel visa for my Fiancé to travel back to Thailand with me at the end of December. I've been doing a lot of research online, but there is misinformation everywhere.
We just want to know what the first step is to apply for a visa.
Will he need to mail his passport to Ottawa? or can it all be done online?

Update, arrived two days ago at my ASQ, everything went well except there was a mistake on my COE as my transit was on December 26, not 25 and made my boarding slightly complicated.

- Following you both! Haven't started the process yet. Got any tips/advice? I would also be going through Ottawa. What is the trickiest hoop to jump through right now? Do you think it will get any easier by January? (can only guess, I realize) Thanks!!Tara ******
OP@Gregory ********
Well my partner visa took roughly over a week (includes mailing time) but we got it back with lots of time to spare Tara ******
OPWow that took a week!
Tara ******
OPWe sent my fiancés one yesterday, so hopefully it'll be fast

Wish you good luck!Tara ******
OP@Alex ******
We haven't booked our reparation flight yet, as we don't know how long the visa process will take. So would it be alright to not include an E-ticket? As we were planning on booking flights/quarantine hotel once we have the accepted visa in hand. Alex *******
@Tara *****
I sent my documents last Friday with the flight I intend to book for the same reason. I’ll let you know how it goes. Alex *******
@Tara *****
I’m not sure for the COE but it’s online only, should be easyAlex *******
@Tara *****
I’ll do! Tara ******
OP(Sorry again for the overload of questions) lol
Tara ******
OPHow long do you reckon the COE will take? 😂 Some ppl have said it takes a day, but others say different
Tara ******
OP@Alex ******
Sounds good! Let me know how yours go:) Thanks alot!!Alex *******
@Tara *****
Exactly, you can do it at the Canada Post office at the same time as your money order. One envelope with postal tracking (for safety) but you also need to provide another prepaid envelope with your address, so they can send back your passport. Cost about 35$ for 2 envelopes. Now I’m waiting for my visa, nothing to do. When I’ll get it, then: PCR test, Fit to fly certificate, booking my flights, quarantine hotels and COE. 😅Tara ******
OP@Alex ******
Did you do postal tracking? and what else do you have to sort out, whilst you wait for the visa to be sent back? Thank you so much! all of this is very helpful! Alex *******
@Tara *****
It’s ok, I had all the same questions last week🙂. I paid the 50$ with a « postal money order », you can do it at a Canada Post office for 7$. Tara ******
OP@Alex ******
Another question, how did you pay for the visa application ($50) did you include it in the post you sent? or paid some other way? Thank you for answer all my questions hahah:)Alex *******
@Tara *****
Qatar Airlines from MontrealAlex *******
@Tara *****
Correct!Tara ******
OP@Alex ******
Also, which airline are you going with?Tara ******
OP@Alex ******
So you just included the flight you intended on booking...so not the paid flight comfirmation?
John ********
Better by mail with return envelope
John ********
Better by mail with return postage

They didn't answer when I tried to call them. They did eventually reply to my email after a few days. First reply they sent was just a general reply and link to their page. The second reply was a specific answer after I had already started the application process.

@Johnny ********
What is the trickiest part of the process right now? If I want to visit for 30 days or less, which visa type is correct for me? Thanks!Johnny *******
@Gregory ********
to be honest it's not worth it if you are only going for 30days or less because you will spend 15days in quarantine Tara ******
OP@Johnny ******
How long did you wait until you got your passport & visa application back?Johnny *******
@Tara *****
just over a week Johnny *******
@Tara *****
Mine took less then 24hrs. If you have everything in order already then the process is fast. I already had my flights booked, ASQ, and Insurance. Scanned and saved all documents in one file folder for easy upload. Tara ******
OP@Johnny ******
Thank you so much! Also, how long did your COE take? Some ppl said 1day and some said longer...Johnny *******
@Tara *****
The visa is valid for 90days from date of issue which means you have 90days in which to enter the country. Once you enter the country your 60days start. Check your messenger. I sent you a pm to help with options for staying longer. Tara ******
OP@Johnny ******
Is your tourist visa effective immediately, once it's issued by the embassy...or once you enter Thailand?Garrett ***********
