Hi, what is the turn around time for a SETV visa from Penang? What are the opening hours? Is it correct that you need an onward ticket and 10 days hotel booking confirmation?

They ask for onward ticket (reservation is enough) and, last time I checked, 14 days hotel booking.

I would shop around hotel options -- book now - pay at arrival. Book, print booking, then decided later if that is a good hotel for you or not. Onward travel can be bus ticket. Also there are airline options that allow you to change the date --- you will want to use the ticket - you just don't know when.

You have problems showing hotel booking or address, you want to organise onward transport on later date, I advice you to contact the Royal Thai Immigration Police in Thailand and ask if they can change the Immigration law written in 1979 to make it more convenient to your personal wishes. Otherwise follow the law, provide what they ask and if you do not like it choose another holiday destination. Sorry if this sounds harsh or rude.

You have to leave Thailand after maximum 90 days, what is the problem to provide proof that you are going to leave and obey the Thai Immigration laws?

Thai Consulate, in order to give a TOURIST VISA, need to have proof you are a tourist: onward ticket and hotel booking. That's the rule in Penang.

Well Jim told me that my embassy verified paper work would not get a Non O. Went next day to consulate myself, same paper work and picked up NON O following day.

Usually next day collection, apart if there is a weekend or holidays. If there would be a problem, you still would get your passport back by the next working day and you'd need to re-apply with whatever was missing before.

I can't think of a situation where it'd take longer, unless your paperwork wasn't right or there was a gov't holiday.

Especially seeing as most agents pushing paper down there for thai visas vet your paperwork before they turn it in.
