Has anyone got a 60 day tourist visa from Penang recently? Any advice? And does anyone know if they require the proof of onward travel and if so, can it be in 90 days (taking into account that I’ll be applying for an extension)?

Thank you 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses the experience of obtaining a 60-day tourist visa from Penang, highlighting the need for proof of onward travel and accommodation. Comments suggest that a bus ticket can suffice as proof of onward travel and that using a visa run agent can simplify the process. It also notes that applying from Kuala Lumpur may be more paperwork-intensive than in Penang.

Does proof of lodgings have to be for the whole trip or can it be just 2 or 3 weeks?

Im a visa run agent on Koh Tao sending many of my customers to Malaysia for Tourist visas. Penang is cool to visit and

is a very nice, honest and helpful guy down there, yes onward flight is necessary and 90 days is fine. Kota Barhu is another good option,

runs a fast and easy trip there from Samui/ Surathanni. KL is the hardest of the 3 options as they require a bit more paperwork.

When you come back across the border the officers make spot checks re. the cash so you may or may not get asked to show 20k.

KL's not as bad as they used to be. ;) Just have the requirements they list on their website and you should be fine.

I seem to remember they are less user friendly. No first hand experience, though.

I believe they will take proof of onward travel as a bus ticket too and if you rent an apartment they take a copy of the lease.

They need proof and 90 days will be fine. Be warned, they only process 200 visa/day. I used Jim's agency btw and they did a great job.
