TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai Embassy in Penang has updated its visa processing times. As of this week, visa applications can only be submitted in the mornings, and the collection of visas now takes 2 days. This change has frustrated many, as previous processing times were faster, with some visas ready for pickup the next day.

I have a very bad memory I was there five years ago to change my tourist visa to a student visa and they refused it! They told me in a very vulgar way that I didn't want to study but to stay in a position where I wanted to be in Thailand, But my tourist visa was already for six months multi-entries. I had paid for school in Krabi. A bad experience
Hi Peggy, would you mind telling me what they required for that visa? The Penang embassy website says they want a criminal background check from one's home country, health insurance, and 800k฿ just for the initial 90 day O visa. Is it correct that they needed those? Thanks!
