TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have renewed your UK passport and have a DTV stamp in your old passport, you generally do not need to leave Thailand to get a DTV stamp in your new passport. It's advised to carry both your old passport (with the DTV stamp) and your new passport when visiting immigration. You can apply to transfer the visa stamp from your old passport to your new one.
