Hi all, what do you need to show for visa on arrival? I’m from Uk coming from Phnom Penh. I know in the past they used to ask for return ticket or proof of funds. Tia

TLDR : Answer Summary
UK citizens do not qualify for visa on arrival in Thailand and instead can enter on a visa exempt entry, which allows for a free 30-day stay. While generally not asked for onward travel proof upon entry, it's advisable to verify with your airline, as they may require this documentation before check-in. Past experiences indicate some travelers have been asked for an onward ticket when flying from Cambodia.

If you have an extensive history of living and working in Thailand, I suggest you NOT 🚫 fly into Thailand.

Use the land border crossing entries into Thailand...

And AVOID Poipet Border crossing !!!

IF you MUST fly into Thailand, AVOID BKK Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in Bangkok... and PHUKET airport.

What is your recent visa or visa exempt entry history of staying in Thailand? (After you left employment with a Thai work permit as an insurance agent in Thailand?).

Stephen, I ask, as I am concerned about your situation in seeking to RE-ENTER THAILAND.

you’ve pretty much ruled out all the ways I can enter coming from Cambodia. I only want to visit for 2 weeks why is it now so difficult to enter?

then the safest way to enter Thailand is by a Land BORDER crossing entry. AVOID POIPET BORDER CROSSING as it's problematic!

Upon land BORDER CROSSING entry into Thailand, you will be stamped in for 30 days and can get a 30 day extension of stay at Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

Do 🚫 NOT 🚫 Fly into Thailand !!

That's a solution to your long stays in Thailand for the past 3 years.

I wish you success and...

Good Luck 🍀

Have you already USED your Allowed 2 LAND BORDER entries as Visa Exempt into Thailand in 2023?

Because you're using a variety of visa exempt entries as a tourist. You are not a tourist based on your Thai Immigration history post Non B work permit. IF you choose to Fly into Thailand, be sure to have PROOF of your flight tickets departing in 2 weeks. My guess is that you have already booked a flight to Don Mueang or BKK Suvarnabhumi airport.

I wish you success 🍀

Brits don't get visa on arrival 😕 If you didn't buy a visa from a thai consulate before you come here, you get in on what's called a "visa exempt entry" (just a free 30 day entry stamp)

AND

as long as you don't have an extensive entry/stay history to thailand as a westerner you're highly unlikely to be asked for onward travel or anything else when you stamp in to the country.

You run far more risk of being asked for the onward travel by the air carrier you're using to come here so check with them to see IF flying in without a visa needs onward travel within the days you'll get stamped in (30) or not
