My uncle has askedβ¦
In regards to his retirement Visa, if he is able to produce a letter from his pension company in Canada that confirms a monthly payment to his Canadian bank account in perpetuity would this authorize the expectations required to secure his Visa? Would he have to produce this document every year at the time of Visa renewal? If possible would rather do that instead of tying up the required funds in his Thai bank account.
He is coming from Canada by the end of this year and will apply for first retirement visa.
#He will live in Bangkok when he comes.
TLDR : Answer Summary
Your uncle can use an affidavit of income from the Canadian embassy in Thailand as proof of his pension for the retirement visa, rather than needing to transfer funds to a Thai bank account. This means he can apply for the Non-O visa upon arrival and then seek one-year extensions without needing to show the pension letter annually, as long as he has the affidavit. He should inquire with the embassy about the specific documentation needed.
