Ok Guys, this will come to us all so please read.

Those of us, long term residents of Thailand, who see Thailand as “home’ will, if we survive, reach an age of infirmity, be it physical or mental, where the annual trip to Immigration is impossible, as will the efforts of obtaining the necessary paperwork required to support the yearly extension. Question then, what is the solution? Is there a procedure in place to accommodate us, someone must have been there and done all this already, or is it all down to a Law firm or Thai family to take up the battle with immigration?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Long-term residents of Thailand facing health challenges may struggle to attend annual immigration appointments required for visa extensions. To address this, one solution involves appointing a power of attorney to a trusted individual or law firm who can handle immigration matters on behalf of the incapacitated applicant. Additionally, a letter from a registered doctor is necessary, confirming the individual's inability to attend in person due to medical reasons. This process is advised to prevent complications and ensure continued residency.

have recently discussed this with Immigration. The answer is quite simple, at this time, subject to change you put into place a power of attorney for either next of kin or a law firm, you will also need a letter from a registered doctor stating the medical illness leading to the inability for the Visa applicant to attend immigration in person

The letter from the doctor should state clearly that the applicant is incapable of attending in person and the reason why, that will then give the holder of the power of attorney the ability to approach Immigration and deal with matters on the applicants behalf. This is as we all know Thailand and that is the advice that we have at this time but this can change. I hope this helps everyone with an interest in this area.

more than welcome. Immigration must face this on a regular basis from the order expat community it is always worthwhile just touching base with them locally on these issues as and when you do extensions et cetera

I wish, I wish there is a simplified process.
