What should I do if I can't attend my visa extension due to COVID-19?

Hi. Has anyone here not been able to make it for their COVID extension (or another visa's extension) because of getting COVID? In that case did you get a doctor's certificate saying that you had COVID during that period and take that to immigration on a later day after you had recovered? Would anyone know of a clinic where it is possible to get this certificate and that doesn't charge you too much?

Thanks for any input you could share.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses challenges faced by expats in Thailand who are unable to attend their visa extension appointment due to contracting COVID-19. It asks for advice on obtaining a doctor's certificate to present to immigration and where to find affordable clinics for this purpose. Responses indicate that immediate action is necessary to avoid overstaying and highlight important documentation needed for a successful medical extension, including a doctor's note and power of attorney.

"My “Medical Extension” for being sick with COVID was approved today with 14 day under consideration stamp. 60 days altogether which was surprising.

Documents we gave Chiang Mai Immigration:

1. Medical certificate from doctor signed saying I must quarantine for 10 days.

2. Power of attorney for friend to represent me. Hard to find at first. Link here:

3. Passport size photo.

4. A large photo we printed out of me in color.

5. Photo copy of my passport.

6. Photo copy of ID of person on power of attorney

6. Tm30

It was approved.

You cannot search around looking for a cheap hospital to certify you have covid! The price is what it is, but your covid insurance will cover it

“doesn’t charge too much”…..false economy. It is what it is!!! Your comment is truthful

You CANNOT wait until after you recover and you are already on overstay. You need to get a note saying you have covid from the Doctor and then either have the hospital go to immigration for you with your passport and documents or have a friend go. If you wait until you're on overstay, it's already too late.
