I have a Non Immigrant OA Visa, due date for extension 21 April in Chiang Mai. I’m unable to get health insurance because of age 80+ and pre-existing medical issues. Plan was to do a border run, exit which cancels my OA, and on re-entry get a VOA, go to Immigration and apply for a Non O for 90 days etc. I’ve left it too late. Now not possible. What to do?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing challenges in extending their Non Immigrant OA Visa due to being over 80 and having pre-existing medical issues, making it difficult to obtain health insurance. They had initially planned a border run to obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) but realized it's now too late. Other users suggested obtaining a letter from their Embassy to request an Extension of Stay while searching for a solution.

Thanks, I’ve already applied for the letter. If an extension is Given I assume that it will end the OA visa?

As long as the visa is still valid, the extension of stay based on the COVID-19 virus will not invalidate your current visa.

Thanks to a co-operation between Thai Immigration and foreign Embassies you can get a letter that you are unable to leave the country from your Embassy and use that letter to get an Extension of Stay on Embassy request during the time you search for a way to leave the country.

The visa stays valid until the Valid Until date mentioned on the visa,
